A man was shot in the leg by a stray bullet as he walked down a Midtown street Sunday night, police and sources said. <\/p>\n

The victim, a 37-year-old, was hit by the gunfire on West 45th Street near Sixth Avenue at about 9 p.m after a group of people started fighting on the block and gunshots rang out, police and sources said. <\/p>\n

It was not immedia<\/a>tely clear what sparked the feud that led to the shooting.<\/p>\n

The victim told police he was walking on the sidewalk when he heard shots and realized he had been hit, sources said. <\/p>\n

He was taken by EMS to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, police said. <\/p>\n

The shooter fled in a black vehicle, according to police. No arrests were made as of late Sunday.<\/p>\n

Two shell casings were recovered at the scene, police sources said. <\/p>\n
