\n A group going by Black Female Anonymous penned a scathing expos\u00e9 about Essence magazine and demanded that four top execs step down \u2014 and now all four are out, sources told Page Six.<\/p>\n

The group declared victory \u2014 but Essence denied their allegations and is insisting that the explosive post on Medium did not cause the staff changes, which were already in the works.<\/p>\n

Richelieu Dennis resigned as interim CEO, Page Six reported on Wednesday, but will remain on as the chairman of Essence. Now we\u2019ve heard that COO Joy Collins Profet, board member Michelle Ebanks and chief content officer Moana Luu \u2014 who were mentioned in the piece that alleged a toxic workplace at Essence \u2014 have also followed suit.<\/p>\n

Caroline Wanga was announced as interim CEO. But Essence said in a statement that Dennis \u201cnever held a CEO role \u2026 interim or otherwise,\u201d after multiple outlets reported he\u2019d stepped down as CEO. The magazine also claimed that Ebanks \u201chas had no role in day-to-day operations since her departure\u201d as CEO on March 31, and that \u201cProfet notified the company of her departure two months ago \u2026 before the anonymous blog was posted.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company also said, \u201cLuu will be recused from day-to-day operations\u201d during an independent review. The execs have not individually commented beyond Essence\u2019s statements.<\/p>\n

A source told us: \u201cThis is a very serious situation and there\u2019s more than [Dennis] \u2026 There are steps being taken.\u201d Another source said, \u201cPeople would not be stepping down, or out, unless there was a verifiable problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

The brand\u2019s former global beauty director, Julee Wilson, who said she\u2019s not part of Black Female Anonymous, implied she believes the women, but added of Wanga: \u201cShe\u2019s amazing. I\u2019m confident she\u2019ll be able to help usher Essence into a new era of dopeness.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group also has support from fashion vets and activists such as Bethann Hardison and Michaela Angela Davis. Black Female Anonymous has hinted it could release more info.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
