But despite the show\u2019s troubled background, it looks to make a strong debut on HBO this April.<\/p>\n<p>Watch the official\u00a0<em>The Nevers<\/em> trailer below.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Nevers_Trailer\"><\/span>The Nevers Trailer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gs-ODufnJ8Y\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gs-ODufnJ8Y<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Set in a world where a population of people \u201ctouched\u201d with powerful abilities are persecuted,\u00a0<em>The Nevers<\/em> looks\u00a0like a cross between\u00a0<em>X-Men,<\/em>\u00a0<em>Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>League of Extraordinary Gentlemen<\/em>. But most significantly,\u00a0<em>The Nevers<\/em> is refreshingly original \u2014 while familiar in some areas, it is not based on a book or existing IP. It sets up a very intriguing world: one where the \u201ctouched\u201d are either profited on or persecuted, with a small group of superpowered women deciding to take their fates into their own hands.<\/p>\n<p>Starring an ensemble cast that includes\u00a0<strong>Olivia Williams<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>James Norton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tom Riley<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rochelle Neil<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eleanor Tomlinson<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Nick Frost<\/strong>,\u00a0\u00a0<em>The Nevers<\/em>\u00a0was dreamed up by Whedon, who was set to showrun and executive produce the series before he suddenly\u00a0departed the project in November. Though this seemed to result in a shortened first season, those first six episodes will be \u201cPart One\u201d of season 1, and will be followed by \u201cPart Two,\u201d also six episodes, at a later date,\u00a0per HBO.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Nevers<\/em>\u00a0is also executive produced by Bernadette Caulfield, Ilene S. Landress, Doug Petrie, Jane Espenson and Philippa Goslett.\u00a0<strong>Amy Manson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Pip Torrens<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Denis O\u2019Hare<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Zackary Momoh<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Berrington<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kiran Sawar,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Anna Devlin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Viola Prettejohn<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ella Smith<\/strong>\u00a0round out the cast.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the synopsis for\u00a0<em>The Nevers<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->August, 1896. Victorian London is rocked to its foundations by a supernatural event which gives certain people \u2013 mostly women \u2013 abnormal abilities, from the wondrous to the disturbing. But no matter their particular \u201cturns,\u201d all who belong to this new underclass are in grave danger.
