From the right: Truth-Challenged Joe<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll always tell you the truth,\u201d President Biden vowed a year ago \u2014 yet, the Issues & Insights editors note<\/a>, he is lying \u201cabout the COVID-19 vaccine, the economic rebound already underway\u201d and \u201cthe border crisis. Biden won\u2019t tell the truth about the first two because he\u2019d have to credit President Donald Trump.\u201d He has \u201crepeatedly claimed\u201d he is responsible for \u201cthe widespread distribution\u201d of vaccines, but when he took office, \u201cdaily doses were well above 1 million \u2014 for a vaccine that nobody, including Biden, thought would be app<\/a>roved by then.\u201d The day Biden said \u201chis $1.9 trillion spend-a-thon\u201d was \u201curgently needed,\u201d the \u201cnational unemployment rate dropped to 6.2 percent,\u201d and \u201cgrowth has been booming.\u201d And he lies about the border crisis because he is \u201centirely to blame for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Veteran: Sliming Our Troops<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have returned to \u201cthe bad old days of slandering the military\u201d with claims that it \u201chas become a friend to racism and extremism,\u201d laments Mackubin Thomas Owens at National Review<\/a>. As one of our few truly meritocratic institutions, the military teaches its members to \u201cwork toward a common goal with others from different backgrounds\u201d and to \u201crise above their preexisting prejudices,\u201d so \u201cthe idea that racism is somehow pervasive in the military is nonsense.\u201d Claims to the contrary undermine trust \u201cbetween the American people and the military as an institution\u201d and between service members and the leaders who fail to defend their honor. Bottom line: Baseless claims \u201csuggesting that white supremacy and extremism are rampant in the military is a disservice to the force.\u201d<\/p>\n

Culture critic: Neo-Segregation at Columbia<\/strong><\/p>\n

The optional \u201cmulticultural graduation ceremonies\u201d Columbia University is planning this year include separate ceremonies for \u201cNative, lavender (LGBTQ+), Asian, first graduate from a family\/low-income household, Latinx and black,\u201d reports Carl Trueman at First Things<\/a>. Yet the point of graduations is \u201cto emphasize unity\u201d: \u201cJust as serial monogamy is another term for promiscuity, so this serial multiculturalism is a euphemism for what is, in effect, a new form of segregation.\u201d Worse, elitist, \u201cout-of-touch\u201d Columbia \u201creflects the ambitions\u201d of those who decide \u201cwhich identities are to be privileged and which demonized.\u201d It\u2019s a \u201cmicrocosm\u201d for what\u2019s happening nationwide. \u201cAmerica\u2019s motto E pluribus unum speaks of unity arising out of diversity\u201d; Columbia\u2019s vision \u201cmight be better characterized\u201d by \u201cEx uno plures, where shared institutions function as little more than battlegrounds\u201d for competing visions of identity.<\/p>\n

Conservative: Some \u2018Party of Science<\/a>\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

At American Greatness, Victor Davis Hanson assails<\/a> the supposed \u201cparty of science,\u201d since \u201cleftists and Democrats have become the purveyors of superstition.\u201d It isn\u2019t just AOC\u2019s and others\u2019 false claims of \u201cclimatological catastrophe in just a few years.\u201d There was the about-face on the dangers of crowds when Black Lives Matter started marching mid-quarantine. And the left brought in Yale shrink Dr. Bandy Lee to testify to Congress about President Donald Trump\u2019s supposed mental illness \u2014 \u201cbut where is Lee now in the era of a 78-year-old Joe Biden in the White House\u201d to ask if his mental faculties work? Then there is virus guru Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has \u201cbeen flat-out wrong on the science of COVID \u2014 in his assessments of the origins and possible dangers of COVID-19, of when we can get back to normal.\u201d Plus, he \u201crejected science, as he knew it, to mislead the public\u201d about both the value of masks and what would constitute \u201cherd immunity\u201d for fear \u201cthe childish public would become too lax.\u201d<\/p>\n

Political scientist: America\u2019s Race Triumph<\/strong><\/p>\n

Racial prejudice will never be completely eliminated \u2014 but, cheers Wilfred C. Reilly in the April issue of Commentary<\/a>, \u201cefforts to address the results of racial animus have worked,\u201d and today, \u201cit is not, objectively speaking, extraordinarily hard for a person of any skin tone to \u2018make it.\u2019\u200a\u201d On every indicator, from wealth to education, the doors of opportunity are open to blacks, thanks to the \u201cincredible amount of blood and treasure to counteract\u201d the injustices of slavery and apartheid. \u201cThe real picture .\u2009.\u2009. is quite favorable.\u201d <\/p>\n
