“#Jordan Belfort to host Game<\/a>Stop documentary for Discovery+<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Jordan Belfort \u2014 the infamous stockbroker who inspired the hit film \u201cThe Wolf of Wall Street\u201d \u2014 is set to host a new documentary on the sharp rise of GameStop\u2019s stock for Discovery\u2019s new streaming service. <\/p>\n

The hour-long documentary, slated to air on Discovery+ with the working title \u201cGameStop: The Wall Street Hijack,\u201d explores how a group of amateur investors on the Reddit<\/a> group WallStreetBets, rocked Wall Street by shorting stocks like GameStop. <\/p>\n

Hollywood has been clamoring to tell the GameStop story, with several film and movie projects already in development. <\/p>\n

Discovery+ said its quick turnaround documentary will feature Belfort \u201cin a series<\/a> of vignettes,\u201d in which he will track the timeline of events and explain what happ<\/a>ened in \u201clayman\u2019s terms and why we need to pay attention.\u201d The project will also \u201cfeature insider accounts from those at the center\u201d of what happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019ve found some very creative ways to make money on Wall Street, but I\u2019ve got to say, personally, I love the fact that everyone now has the ability to organize and give the Wall Street players a run for their money, it\u2019s a real David versus Goliath story,\u201d Belfort said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m praying that the amateur traders are victorious but one thing I can assure you of, it\u2019s going to be a wild ride every step of the way!\u201d<\/p>\n

As the GameStop saga has developed, Belfort has told outlets like Fox News<\/a> that the \u201clittle guy\u201d now has the ability to \u201cplay the same game\u201d as the Wall Street overlords, who he claims have been \u201ccolluding\u201d on shorting stocks. <\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Belfort posted\u00a0a video to YouTube in which he reenacted a scene from\u00a0Martin Scorsese\u2019s Oscar-nominated, \u201cWolf of Wall Street,\u201d which was based on his 2007 memoir of the same name. In it, the one-time New York City multi-millionaire stockbroker gave a motivational speech to Reddit stock traders to not be intimidated by hedge funds and short sellers.<\/p>\n

The GameStop documentary, which was produced by ITN Productions, will make its debut on Discovery+ in the UK on April 8 and then will be rolled out to the US and other markets later this year. A launch date wasn\u2019t unveiled.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
