{"id":209257,"date":"2021-03-24T00:21:57","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T21:21:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/goldman-sachs-underlings-have-griped-about-work-from-home-schedule-for-a-year\/"},"modified":"2021-03-24T00:21:57","modified_gmt":"2021-03-23T21:21:57","slug":"goldman-sachs-underlings-have-griped-about-work-from-home-schedule-for-a-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/goldman-sachs-underlings-have-griped-about-work-from-home-schedule-for-a-year\/","title":{"rendered":"#Goldman Sachs underlings have griped about work from home schedule for a year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Goldman Sachs underlings have griped about work from home schedule for a year<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Goldman Sachs underlings have been complaining about their grueling work-from-home routines for longer than previously known \u2014 since the start of the pandemic, in fact. <\/p>\n<p>Last spring \u2014 almost a year before a group of first-year analysts created last month\u2019s viral PowerPoint presentation, begging to work 80 hours a week instead of more than 100 \u2014 a coterie of Goldman rookies put together a similar deck, just weeks after the start of the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p>While February\u2019s slide show cited the deteriorating physical and mental health of first-year analysts as they gr<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>led with \u201cinhuman\u201d working conditions, the newly leaked presentation from last April focuses on the basics \u2014 computers and food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find myself looking for time to prepare food, which usually entails late-night sandwiches or scrambled eggs given I work throughout the day,\u201d one underling wrote. \u201cManagement should extend the expensing dinner policy as it decreases the stress of worrying about food preparation while working to meet deadlines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, entry-level bankers said they missed the $25 stipend they got for meals when forced to work after 8 pm at Goldman\u2019s posh headquarters in lower Manhattan at 200 West St.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll analysts reported working past 8 pm for five or more days of the seven-day week,\u201d the presentation lamented in a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of bullet points. \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>n analyst also worked past 12 pm for five days of the week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While some employees clamored for daily meal reimbursements, others lobbied for a weekly stipend to cover deliveries of groceries or frozen food, citing a different set of concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoronavirus can be spread through poor kitchen hygiene and I wouldn\u2019t order that from restaurants even if covered,\u201d the employee wrote.  <\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, underlings complained that they weren\u2019t getting compensated for the laptops, monitors and mice they were forced to buy to start doing their jobs at home. According to the deck, which was first <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/goldman-sachs-analysts-wfh-expenses-equipment-junior-banker-wall-street-2021-3?utmSource=twitter&amp;utmContent=referral&amp;utmTerm=topbar&amp;referrer=twitter\">obtained by Business Insider (paywall)<\/a>, analysts on average were shelling out $1,000 for tech equipment \u2014 an expense for which rival firms were offering employees reimbursements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the largest challenges is the lack of proper office environment (high quality monitor, keyboard, phone, reliable internet, etc),\u2019 one analyst said. \u201cIn order to overcome this, I have invested in equipment to continue to deliver the same throughput and quality as in the office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the presentation, the food-and-computer costs were a painful bite for the finances of first-year bankers, who make roughly $85,000 out of college, not including their bonus, which pumps up their annual salary to $140,000 a year. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to our analysis, the cost of WFH equipment amounted to about 35 percent of the median analyst\u2019s remaining cash after non-discretionary spending leaving him with $600 at the end of the month (not including <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>, credit card\/ student loan repayment, etc),\u201d the presentation said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\"Goldman CEO David Solomon\" class=\"wp-image-17643315 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/david-solomon-bankers.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/david-solomon-bankers.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/david-solomon-bankers.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/david-solomon-bankers.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/david-solomon-bankers.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2000 2000w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Goldman CEO David Solomon has been criticized for demanding that employees end their work-from-home pandemic routines. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The presentation reached higher-ups at Goldman, including Will Bousquette, the chief operating officer of the bank\u2019s global markets division, according to BI. Bousquette spoke to junior bankers directly, and sources said execs at the firm vetted their complaints. Nothing was done, however, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>A rep for Goldman Sachs declined to comment on the contents of the deck or on why the bank hasn\u2019t taken action. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to have built a culture where employees regularly go to management and share their ideas and concerns,\u201d said Goldman\u2019s head of corporate communications, Nicole Sharp. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had in-depth discussions with teams across the firm on this, and other measures, as we moved to working from home last year,\u2019 Sharp added. \u201cWe continue to have an active dialogue with employees on what steps we can take to address specific concerns and requests during this complicated and unusual time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A media frenzy over the February slide show spurred Goldman Chief Executive David Solomon to leave a voice memo to staffers on Sunday night, promising to \u201cstrengthen enforcement\u201d of a rule against working on Saturdays.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Solomon \u2014 who earlier this month was slammed with a report about his recent habit of taking the company\u2019s private jet to the Bahamas on weekends \u2014 added that business was lately on the upswing, and that \u201cIf we all go an extra mile for our client, even when we feel that we\u2019re reaching our limit, it can really make a difference in our performance.\u201d\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
