“#Corey Reynolds Promises ‘Resolution’ for Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv’s Fallout<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for two TV characters who need to clear the air, look no further than Resident Alien<\/em>\u2018s<\/a> Sheriff Mike Thompson (Corey Reynolds<\/a>) and now-former Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to get some resolution on their relationship and the difficulties they\u2019ve been having in [the March 24] episode,\u201d the ninth of the first season, Reynolds promised during a recent press junket. (Resident Alien<\/em> has been renewed on Syfy for a second season.)<\/p>\n

At least, working out their problems has been rewarding, said Reynolds. \u201cElizabeth Bowen\u2019s been absolutely incredible,\u201d he raved. \u201cThe dynamic between the two of them has been just outstanding and so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mike and Liv have disagreed several times during the course of the investigation into the murder (via poison) of the town\u2019s former doctor, with Mike disregarding her input. It all came to a head in Episode 7 when he called her out for being \u201cdisrespectful,\u201d explaining, \u201cthe Miranda rights are kinda my thing. You know that. It just seemed odd to me you\u2019d be quick to try to jump in and take them for yourself.\u201d Given he\u2019s the one disrespecting her, she decided she\u2019d had enough, and quit.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re no fan of how Mike\u2019s been treating Liv, you\u2019ll want to tune in to what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to learn a lot more about what makes Mike tick,\u201d Reynolds previewed. \u201cHe may not be the asshole for the reason that everyone thinks he\u2019s an asshole. He may be a lovable asshole.\u201d<\/p>\n

Part of diving into his character involves looking at the \u201cinternal issues\u201d he has, and his relationship with his father. (With that Season 2 pickup, there\u2019s plenty of time to do so, assuming Mike\u2019s still around.) \u201cWe saw some of the moments with his father and how his father is a lot like him \u2014 or is he a lot like his father?\u201d Reynolds continued. \u201cHe may come to discover he doesn\u2019t have to be like his father.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the truth about Harry (Alan Tudyk<\/a>) just starting to get out \u2014 Asta (Sara Tomko<\/a>) learned he\u2019s an alien who\u2019s taken the form of the real small-town doctor in the last episode \u2014 how might Mike react if he found out? Reynolds thinks he\u2019d be \u201csurprised and not surprised at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe very first thing he would say is, \u2018That explains a lot. I was right,’\u201d the actor said. \u201cIf you go back to the pilot, he was the very first one to say \u2018that\u2019s a weird guy.’\u201d But that doesn\u2019t mean that learning Harry\u2019s an alien wouldn\u2019t \u201cfreak him the f**k out,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
