State Comptroller Tom \u00adDiNapoli should initiate a state investigation of Gov. Cuomo\u2019s handling of nursing homes, a group of activists said Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One day before the first anniversary of the Health Department\u2019s since-rescinded directive for nursing homes to accept coronavirus patients, members of \u201cVoices for Seniors\u201d urged DiNapoli to make a \u201creferral\u201d to Attorney General<\/a> Letitia James under Section 63(3) of the state\u2019s Executive Law.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The move would permit DiNapoli and James to \u201cuse both the audit power of the comptroller\u2019s office and the investigatory and enforcement power of the attorney general,\u201d said the activists, whose kin died after contracting \u00adCOVID-19 in nursing homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

James is already investigating sexual harassment allegations against the governor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The \u201cVoices for Seniors\u201d letter raised questions that include \u201cHow and why did the governor\u2019s administration issue the March 25 order?\u201d to admit COVID-19 patients and \u201cWere there financial considerations in that decision?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

It also asked, \u201cWho wrote Governor Cuomo\u2019s \u2018book\u2019 and did they do so on the state\u2019s dime? Are there communications between the governor and the publisher that establish a profit motive for the coverup? If so, can the state re-capture the $1M advance that the governor reportedly received or any other profits from the sales?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

A DiNapoli spokeswoman said the letter was \u201cunder review.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Reps for Cuomo and James didn\u2019t return requests for comment.\u00a0\n <\/p><\/div>\n
