“#NJ gym offers free memberships to non-vaccinated customers<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

A New Jersey gym owner is riffing on Krispy Kreme\u2019s popular offer of free donuts for vaccinated customers \u2014 by handing out free memberships to people who don\u2019t get vaccinated. <\/p>\n

Ian Smith, co-owner of The Atilis Gym, located in Bellmawr, NJ, tweeted out the provocative offer<\/a> earlier this week, kicking up a storm of controversy in the process. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn light of @krispykreme<\/a> giving free donuts for receiving the CVD shot, here at @TheAtilisGym<\/a> we are giving out free memberships to all who don\u2019t get vaccinated. We believe in health \u2013 the real way \u2013 exercise, good diet, plenty of Vitamin D, Zinc, and an environment to destress,\u201d Smith tweeted.<\/p>\n

The tweet stirred up anger online, with many users slamming it. <\/p>\n

\u201cYeah thanks for supporting Bellmawar\u2019s most famous killer\u2026Ian claims he doesn\u2019t run from his mistakes but he\u2019s causing more deaths by discouraging vaccinations. Believe in science<\/a>. You use a cell phones for Gods sake,\u201d one Twitter<\/a> user replied.<\/p>\n

Another shot back: \u201cVITAMIN D CANNOT GET RID OF COVID. THIS IS AN EXTREMLY IRRESPONSIBLE THING YOU\u2019RE DOING.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some users, however, defended Smith and his detractors. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhy all the hatred??? Everyone is welcome to have their own opinions,\u201d one user wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod bless you. Good health comes from NATURE, not from science experiments,\u201d another said. <\/p>\n

It is unclear whether Smith will actually honor his offer, but the gym owner is infamous for thwarting pandemic-related policies.<\/p>\n

Smith, who made headlines when he defied New Jersey\u2019s stay-at-home order last May, recently got banned from American Airlines after refusing to wear a mask on his trip<\/a> back from the Conservative Political Action Conference in late February.<\/p>\n

At CPAC, the gym owner blasted the Garden State\u2019s lockdown rules as \u201cunconstitutional\u201d after he was hit with more than $1.2 million in fines for keeping his gym open during the pandemic. <\/p>\n

After being arrested several times for defying the rules, Smith sued New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy over his administration\u2019s decision to close non-essential businesses and enforce a quarantine. A judge ultimately sided with New Jersey, and shuttered Atilis Gym last July. It reopened after Murphy lifted the shutdown order for gyms on Sept. 1.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
