Sean Tillman, the musician best known under the name Har Mar Superstar, has issued a statement tonight after multiple women have come forward with accusations of sexual misconduct and harassment, the Star Tribune<\/em> reports<\/a>. Tillman denies one woman\u2019s allegations in his statement, but otherwise offers a blanket apology for his past behavior.<\/p>\n

One woman told the Star Tribune<\/em> that Tillman was a friend who she trusted \u201ccompletely\u201d until he allegedly exposed his penis and stuck it in her face at his home in 2016. Three people confirmed to the Star Tribune<\/em> that she\u2019d told them that story shortly after it allegedly occurred.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tillman \u201ccategorically\u201d denied the woman\u2019s claims in a statement tonight, which otherwise featured a blanket apology: \u201cI take these claims extremely seriously. I am deeply sorry to anyone who feels I\u2019ve hurt them.\u201d He admitted to \u201cconduct that was harmful, abusive, and selfish.\u201d Two other women spoke to the Star Tribune<\/em> alleging instances of misconduct between 2014 to 2017.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral years ago, I started a process of being honest with myself about how, fueled by a toxic mixture of alcohol, drugs, and cavalier sexuality, I was harming people around me and failing them and myself,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI am profoundly and sincerely sorry for the harm that I have caused.\u201d Find his full statement below.<\/p>\n

The allegations against Tillman led the venue First Avenue to cancel a planned concert from Tillman\u2019s band Heart Bones. \u201cOnce we became aware of the allegations, we felt it was the best decision to take the show down until there is accountability,\u201d the venue said in a statement. \u201cFirst Avenue takes all accusations of harassment and assault seriously.\u201d The radio station 89.3 the Current has stopped playing his music.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pitchfork has reached out to Har Mar Superstar\u2019s representatives for further comment.<\/p>\n
