How do you know that the Enchanted<\/em> sequel is moving along smoothly? With the confirmation that 90% of the main cast are back in\u00a0Disenchanted<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0James Marsden<\/strong> and Idina Menzel<\/strong>, who played the prince of Andalasia and his new bride from New York City, respectively, are both confirmed to be reprising their roles in\u00a0Disenchanted<\/em>, joining Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey.<\/p>\n

In a live stream with JLGB Virtual<\/a>\u00a0(via Collider<\/a>), composer\u00a0Alan Menken<\/strong>, who is in the process of writing new music for the Disney+ sequel,\u00a0has stated that both\u00a0James Marsden<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Idina Menzel<\/strong>\u00a0would be returning for\u00a0Disenchanted<\/em>.
\n\u201cAmy Adams is in it. Patrick is in it. Idina Menzel is in it. James Marsden \u2014 they\u2019re in it,\u201d Menken said during the live stream after playing a part of the Oscar-nominated\u00a0Enchanted<\/em> song \u201cThat\u2019s How You Know.\u201d He also added that the film is\u00a0\u201creally good,\u201d and that \u201cit\u2019s filming\u201d now.<\/p>\n

Amy Adams<\/strong> has long been confirmed to return as Giselle, the fairy tale princess who finds herself lost in New York, and recently Patrick Dempsey<\/strong> has announced he\u2019ll be back<\/a> as her love interest in the sequel. But apart from that, it was unclear if the rest of the cast of\u00a0Enchanted<\/em> would be app<\/a>earing in the sequel. Susan Sarandon and Timothy Spall both played the primary antagonists of\u00a0Enchanted<\/em>, but the premise of the sequel might mean that it will take place primarily in the real world. However, Marsden and Menzel\u2019s inclusion means that the fairy tale world of Andalasia will factor in, in some way, as the two characters paired off and returned to the animated world together after Giselle chose to stay in New York. Perhaps Menzel\u2019s character will be given more to do in the sequel, as it seems unlikely a career-driven woman like her would\u2019ve been happy being a fairy tale princess.<\/p>\n

There aren\u2019t many more new details on\u00a0Disenchanted<\/em>, which will feature original songs from Disney Legend\u00a0Alan Menken<\/strong>, who confirmed in March of last year that he was\u00a0working on new songs. It was one of the few updates we had heard in a few years of the\u00a0Enchanted<\/em>\u00a0sequel, which director\u00a0Adam Shankman<\/strong>\u00a0had last teased in 2018, revealing that a draft of the script was done. \u201cWe are handing in a script in a couple weeks that I\u2019m super happy with,\u201d Shankman\u00a0said\u00a0in 2018. \u201cThen gotta get the music written.\u201d<\/p>\n

Disenchanted\u00a0<\/i>has been in development since 2010.\u00a0<\/strong>The sequel will pick up with Adam\u2019\u00a0 former\u00a0animated Disney princess who decided to stay in live-action New York at the end of\u00a0Enchanted<\/i>. The sequel is set 10 years after 2007\u2019s\u00a0Enchanted<\/i>, with\u00a0Giselle potentially rethinking her love of the real world.<\/p>\n

Disenchanted<\/em>\u00a0will be joining the plethora of other live-action Disney films that will be heading straight to Disney+.<\/p>\n
