\n A bullet pierced the windshield of a marked NYPD vehicle in the Bronx Saturday night as two officers sat inside \u2014 but neither was struck, according to a police spokesman.<\/p>\n

The shot rang off a few minutes before midnight outside of the 40th Precinct on Alexander Avenue in Mott Haven, police said.<\/p>\n

The bullet travel<\/a>ed through the windshield and lodged in the divider between the back seats.<\/p>\n

Shattered glass had hit one of the cops in the face, causing a minor cut, police said.<\/p>\n

Dozens of cops were posted outside of the precinct following the shooting.<\/p>\n

It was not immedia<\/a>tely clear if it was a stray bullet or if the police were intentionally targeted.<\/p>\n

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

The incident follows a recent uptick in shootings across the city.<\/p>\n

Residents told The Post they couldn\u2019t distinguish the gunshot among the constant popping of fireworks during the July 4th holiday.<\/p>\n

\u201cShots? I been hearing shots all damn night,\u201d one bystander said. \u201cWith all these fireworks going off you\u2019d never know.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
