Defund-the-police activists are \u201cnotably quiet\u201d following events like \u201cthe fatal spa shooting in Atlanta and Monday\u2019s supermarket shooting in Boulder, Colo.\u201d \u2014 because, argue the Boston Herald\u2019s editors<\/a>, such atrocities remind folks that some people are violent and \u201cwe need brave men and women willing to jump into the fray to protect us.\u201d After the Atlanta carnage, police posted a photo of the suspect, ID\u2019d him, tracked his cell phone, stopped him on the highway and arrested him. \u201cImpressive and necessary police work.\u201d In Boulder, Officer Eric Talley was \u201cfirst on the scene\u201d and paid \u201cthe ultimate price\u201d with his life, leaving seven children. Other cops took the shooter into custody. These officers did \u201cwhat police all over the country do when all hell breaks loose \u2014 they run toward it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Libertarian: Biden\u2019s Disastrous Spend-a-Palooza<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Biden\u2019s next $3 trillion spending plan will be called an infrastructure bill, yet, laments Reason\u2019s Eric Boehm<\/a>, \u201conly about $1 trillion would be directed toward such traditional infrastructure items as roads.\u201d The rest \u201cwill probably be packed with progressive policy items\u201d \u2014 paid family leave, free community college, universal pre-K. And while the tax hikes it\u2019ll include will kill jobs, \u201cmounting national debt\u201d will likely have \u201cmore serious\u201d consequences. Even without new spending, the debt is expected to swell to twice the size of the US economy in 25 years. That could trigger \u201ca major fiscal crisis,\u201d but even if it doesn\u2019t, \u201cmerely making the interest payments\u201d will drag down \u201clong-term economic growth and Americans\u2019 standard of living.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the left: Intel Agencies Cross Red Lines<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Department of Homeland Security last week released a report citing a growing threat of violence from domestic extremists, but Glenn Greenwald blogs<\/a> of the \u201cserious concerns\u201d it raises of \u201cpossibly illegal involvement by the intelligence community in US domestic political affairs.\u201d The report was \u201cnot subject to the standard rigors of an intelligence community finding, yet continually makes sweeping claims that it prefixes with the authoritative phrase \u2018the IC assesses.\u2019 \u201d And why did the Central Intelligence Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency, both barred by law from domestic surveillance, contribute to the report? Beware: \u201cInvolvement of the intelligence community in the domestic activities of US citizens is one of the most dangerous breaches of civil liberties and democratic order the US government can perpetrate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Cuomo Bros\u2019 Nepotism<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last year, \u201cGov. Andrew Cuomo quietly ordered state health officials to prioritize care for his friends and family, even before health-care workers,\u201d writes the Washington Examiner\u2019s Becket Adams<\/a>. His brother Chris Cuomo, \u201ca supposed journalist, never reported that New York\u2019s elite were prioritized over everyone else\u201d even as \u201che was on the receiving end of the governor\u2019s beneficence.\u201d And CNN admitted to Chris\u2019 special treatment only after letting the anchor \u201cregale his viewers with tales about his family\u2019s brush with the virus.\u201d It\u2019s bad enough the governor roped state troopers and health officials into his \u201cscheme\u201d to misuse his political power, but that Chris Cuomo, \u201cwho role-plays on weeknights as a fearless journalist, withheld all of this information from the public is unforgivable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Medical expert: Stop Ignoring Natural Immunity<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHerd immunity is near,\u201d despite Anthony Fauci\u2019s \u201cdenial,\u201d cheers Johns Hopkins medicine prof Marty Makary at The Wall Street Journal<\/a>. Fauci\u2019s \u201cestimate that it\u2019ll take a 70 percent to 85 percent vaccination rate ignores those who have already been infected.\u201d Yet natural immunity \u201cis real\u201d and reinfections \u201crare.\u201d As many as \u201chalf of Californians have natural immunity today,\u201d though only 26 percent have been vaccinated. \u201cFauci\u2019s vaccination-only path to herd immunity\u201d is a \u201cfalse justification for continued excessive restrictions on freedom\u201d and means authorities might be \u201cmisallocating the limited vaccine supply\u201d by not prioritizing \u201cpeople without natural antibodies.\u201d Fauci says \u201cwe don\u2019t have good data on natural immunity.\u201d Yet that is \u201clargely because his own National Institutes of Health has done little\u201d to address the issue.<\/p>\n
