“#Cuomo demanded accuser sing ‘Danny Boy’ in ‘hazing’ incident: report<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

In the weirdest harassment claim yet to surface against Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the lawyer for accuser Charlotte Bennett now says he demanded that the then-aide learn the lyrics to \u201cDanny Boy\u201d and sing it to senior staffers.<\/p>\n

The accusation by Bennett \u2014 one of seven women accusing the governor of inapp<\/a>ropriate behavior \u2014 was first reported by CBS News in New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a bizarre request, but he says, \u2018I want you to memorize these lyrics,\u2019\u201d so she could sing it for members of senior staff, Bennett attorney Debra Katz told the station Friday.<\/p>\n

Bennett refused, the lawyer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe says, \u2018I don\u2019t want to sing \u2018Danny Boy.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the governor persisted in his odd ask, Katz said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe says, \u2018Sing \u2018Danny Boy,\u201d\u201d Katz said. <\/p>\n

The request so obviously unsettled Bennett, that Cuomo\u2019s loyalist top aide, Melissa DeRosa, interceded.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that point, Melissa DeRosa says, \u2018You\u2019re hazing her.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cThe governor then starts booming the song \u2018Danny Boy\u2019 and he\u2019s singing himself and saying, \u2018Sing with me,\u2019\u201d Katz said.<\/p>\n

Bennett \u2014 the second former aide to step forward with harassment claims \u2014 said last month that Cuomo asked her inappropriate\u00a0questions about her sex life, including when she\u2019d last been \u201chugged\u201d and whether or not she sleeps with older men. <\/p>\n

She also said the governor asked her to \u201cfind him a girlfriend.\u201d Bennett said Cuomo never made a physical advance; still, \u201cI understood that the governor wanted to sleep with me, and I felt horribly uncomfortable and scared,\u201d she told The New York Times.<\/p>\n

Katz told the local station Attorney General<\/a> Letitia James\u2019 office has already contacted 12 witnesses provided by her client as they investigate Cuomo\u2019s alleged sexual harassment.<\/p>\n
