\u201cThe View\u201d co-host\u00a0Meghan McCain\u00a0blasted the media Friday over its coverage of\u00a0President Biden\u2019s first formal press conference.<\/p>\n

McCain began on Friday by disclosing that she \u201cloves\u201d Biden as a person, but expressed that \u201cour role as the fourth estate\u201d is to \u201ctold the president and the press\u2019 feet to the fire.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to present a scenario where somehow magically\u00a0President Trump got re-elected. And in\u00a0the first 60 days of him being reelected. he didn\u2019t do a press conference. When he finally did a press conference he didn\u2019t talk or answer one question about the pandemic and he didn\u2019t answer any questions from any media that didn\u2019t agree with him,\u201d McCain explained.\u00a0\u201cPeter Doocy, was not called on, Fox News<\/a> wasn\u2019t called on, which\u00a0I think is a huge miss for President Biden yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThen on top of that in the news cycle, if President Trump had\u00a0fallen down Air Force One\u00a0or if his son was involved in some very serious reports involving the Secret Service and a handgun\u00a0\u2026\u00a0I believe we would be having a very different Hot Topic today,\u201d McCain continued. \u201cAnd I think it is incumbent on us and the press not to be deleterious in the way that we cover President Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n

The conservative co-host went on to say just because Trump was \u201chorrible\u201d to the press \u201cdoesn\u2019t mean that we should be giving Biden passes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still in a pandemic, there are still a bunch of crises, and I don\u2019t think he answered nearly enough questions that I, for one, would have liked to see him answer and\u00a0I think the coverage has been really disconcerting,\u201d McCain said. \u201cI was watching some shows this morning \u2014\u00a0there\u2019s no need to slobber all over Joe Biden right now. He\u2019s still the president of the United States. And I think our role in the fourth estate is to hold his feet to the fire and to ask serious questions and\u00a0\u2018give\u00a0him time, let him be president,\u2019 yes, but we didn\u2019t give this [leeway]\u00a0to President Obama or to President Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

Much of the mainstream media showered Biden with praise. Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin declared that the president \u201cexcelled\u201d during the press conference and NBC News reporter Jonathan Allen claimed that Biden\u00a0was \u201cknocking this out of the park\u201d before later acknowledging that the president seemed \u201ctired\u201d and started \u201ctrailing off\u201d in his responses.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge trumpeted Biden\u2019s performance on his website with headlines like, \u201cJOE\u2019S NO DRAMA PRESS CONFERENCE\u201d and \u201cCHILL STYLE.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
