Peloton is coming up short.<\/p>\n

Pamela Rae Schuller, an Upper East Side comedia<\/a>n, says she had to abandon plans to purchase the popular exercise bike after the company informed her she was too small for their product.<\/p>\n

Schuller, who stands 4-foot-6, received an email from a company rep in October saying that Peloton bikes\u2019 minimum height requirement is 4 feet 11 inches.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven in heels I don\u2019t think I can make that work,\u201d said Schuller, 35.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to ride a Peloton without my little legs dangling.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In their missive, a company rep identified only as Shantee thanked Schuller for \u201cbeing an important part of Peloton\u201d and wished her \u201cthe best of luck\u201d on her future fitness goals. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou are too short to use our product but thanks for being a part of our community. Even though you are not included,\u201d Schuller scoffed<\/a> in a tweeted response. <\/p>\n

The fitness giant, which reported $1.8 billion in revenues last year off its $1,895 video-mounted, trainer-facilitated exercise bikes, has exploded in popularity during the pandemic. It now has more than a million subscribers. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to cancel Peloton. I want to grow with them and partner with them,\u201d Schuller said. \u201cThey are the industry standard and if they did more with accessibility, other companies would follow and we would all benefit.\u201d <\/p>\n

Schuller, who does not have dwarfism but says she \u201cforgot to grow,\u201d has long found ways to manage and mitigate living in a world of taller people. Her apartment has six step stools to help her with things like reaching her microwave and the cabinets above the sink.<\/p>\n

She can get around on the subway ok, although on crowded trains strangers will occasionally use her head as an arm rest. \u201cI do wish they would create turnstiles that don\u2019t hit my boobs so hard,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

In a statement, Peloton told The Post it is \u201ccommitted to the research and development of new features that enhance accessibility to all of our products and platforms.\u201d\u00a0The company has been around since 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis world is not accommodated to us,\u201d lamented Michelle Kraus of Little People of America, citing clothes, furniture and cars that present unique challenges. <\/p>\n

Kraus said that while the ADA covered basics like prohibiting employment discrimination and giving equal access to public spaces, smaller people are on their own for many of the daily work-arounds required to live their lives. Smaller people who want to drive typically use pedal extensions.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t go to Toyota saying you have to make a car that is specially designed for us. That is not a reasonable ask,\u201d Kraus said. <\/p>\n

Even riders within Peloton\u2019s height range have griped about difficulties on blogs<\/a>, noting handlebars that aren\u2019t suitably adjustable requiring add-ons and third-party attachments.\n <\/div>\n
