During a recent interview with <em>The Breakfast Club,\u00a0<\/em>the Dipset vet was talking about his history in the music business when he lamented the way labels these days reward analytics \u2014 not talent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s so sad about what\u2019s going on in the music industry [is] they don\u2019t look for talent anymore, they look for numbers,\u201d Jones said. \u201cThat\u2019s scary because you can have the most bullshit talent and make the most bullshit record, and as long as that record go viral and click a number, there\u2019s a label that\u2019s gon\u2019 give you a shitload of money just because of your analytics and your numbers. And they will skip over all the people that got talent that could be the next Michael Jackson or the next Drake or the next Dipset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cThey skippin\u2019 over all that if you don\u2019t have your numbers and I know that whole-heartedly,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat\u2019s one of the things that I definitely would get back to changing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> if I had the opportunity to get into the music industry as an executive again. \u2018Cause we missin\u2019 the talent and I\u2019m not takin\u2019 nothin\u2019 away from no music that\u2019s out there \u2019cause I like being lit, I like goin\u2019 outside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll this music gives you different feelings, but I\u2019m talking about when it comes to\u00a0making different music\u00a0and real music and giving people the opportunities that should be in the right spot when it comes to being successful, that\u2019s what I want to dig into.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jim Jones Talks Crypto, Culture, Drip, Dipset + More\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wHiJ-UEtYVY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Jones\u2019 sentiments are essentially reflected weekly in the Billboard numbers. Analytics are the reason Lil Nas X is a superstar \u2014 not to say he isn\u2019t talented, but he had <em>one<\/em> song (\u201cOld Town Road\u201d) go viral then suddenly he was performing the remix at the Grammy Awards next to country star Billy Ray Cyrus and getting his own Nike shoe.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Because that song was so popular it stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a record-breaking 19 weeks and became the fastest single to receive a diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) when it crossed the 10 million mark in October 2019.<\/p>\n<p>An artist\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> presence can also lead to record deals \u2014 just look at Bhad Bhabie. The 17-year-old r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er, who was formerly known as the \u201cCash Me Ousside\u201d girl after her viral appearance on <em>The Dr. Phil Show<\/em> in 2016, landed a contract with Atlantic Records partly thanks to her massive online following, which she explained in an interview with <em>HipHopDX<\/em> in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat would you do if you were put in the situation I was?\u201d she said at the time. \u201cAnd your mom put you on a TV show and you came home from a program, and you didn\u2019t even know the latest music that was out \u2014 didn\u2019t know anything. Your mom gives you your phone and you look on the Instagram explore page, and there\u2019s a million pictures of you?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery other picture is a picture of you with something saying, \u2018Cash me ousside\u2019 on it and you don\u2019t even remember that you said that. Then all of sudden somebody calls you and they\u2019re like, \u2018Hey do you rap, do you sing?\u2019 And you say no, but they wanna manage you and say, \u2018I think we can make something out of you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the interview, Jones was confident his rapping abilities are still top tier and is willing to go up against anyone. Speaking to<em> DX<\/em> earlier this month,\u00a0Jones talked about his latest release <em>The Fraud Department,\u00a0<\/em>which was only made possible after he reconciled with his longtime rival French Montana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to do an album after me and French settled our differences,\u201d he said. \u201cMe and Harry Fraud had been in touch, and we were able to have a real conversation where he was telling me about how he\u2019d been following my career for so long and what Dipset and everything did for him, it was just pretty dope. I, in turn, had to tell him how fire his beats is and shit like that.
