Instagram has a trash folder. Whether it\u2019s a story you accidentally removed or a picture you\u2019ve now changed your mind about, you can use this folder to retrieve deleted IGTV videos, stories, posts, or reels. Here\u2019s how to restore your Instagram posts.<\/p>\n

First, open the Instagram app<\/a> on your iPhone<\/a> or Android device<\/a>. Next, tap your display picture icon found in the bottom-right corner to visit your profile page.<\/p>\n

Select the three-line button in the top-right corner and select \u201cSettings\u201d from the following list of options.<\/p>\n

\"Enter<\/p>\n

Head into the \u201cAccount\u201d menu.<\/p>\n

\"Visit<\/p>\n

Choose the \u201cRecently Deleted\u201d option located toward the bottom of the list.<\/p>\n

Here, you\u2019ll find all the posts, reels, stories, and IGTV videos you\u2019ve deleted in the last 30 days.<\/p>\n

\"Recently<\/p>\n

In the \u201cRecently Deleted\u201d section, stories will remain for 24 hours if they\u2019re not in your \u201cArchive.\u201d Every other kind of deleted post, such as reels and pictures, will be automatically dropped from the trash folder 30 days later.<\/p>\n

You can either restore them or permanently erase them from your account. To do that, tap the content you\u2019d like to restore or delete forever.<\/p>\n

From there, select the three-dot \u201cMore\u201d button present in the bottom-right corner.<\/p>\n

You can pick between restoring the deleted content or deleting it forever.<\/p>\n

\"Delete<\/p>\n

Select \u201cRestore,\u201d and in the pop-up, tap \u201cRestore\u201d again to add it back to your profile. It will be sorted as per its original date and won\u2019t show up at the top of your feed.<\/p>\n

\"Restore<\/p>\n

Similarly, you can pick \u201cDelete\u201d to erase it from your Instagram data.<\/p>\n

\"Permanently<\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019re simply looking for a way to clean up your profile by getting rid of, for instance, all embarrassing old posts, but you don\u2019t want to delete them forever, you can\u00a0move them to the \u201cArchive\u201d folder\u00a0instead.<\/p>\n
