CLEARWATER, Fla. \u2014 Aaron Hicks chased down a pair of balls in center on a windy day at BayCare Ballpark on Sunday and said he feels good physically.<\/p>\n

Still, he\u2019s not thrilled with how his spring has gone, at least at the plate.<\/p>\n

He went hitless in a 6-2 loss to the Phillies and has one hit in his last dozen at-bats, with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not really happ<\/a>y with [my spring],\u2019\u2019 Hicks said. \u201cI feel like the past four or five game<\/a>s, I\u2019ve been getting pretty good swings off. I would have liked to have a little more production going into the last [Grapefruit League] game, but I feel good in my preparation and how my swing feels, but I haven\u2019t put it on the field yet. \u2026 When it\u2019s Opening Day and the lights turn on, I\u2019ll be ready to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yankees have been waiting for that to happen, as Hicks has battled injuries throughout most of his time in The Bronx.<\/p>\n

During the offseason, he worked out a bit with DJ LeMahieu, who is confident the center fielder has big things in store.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe looks good,\u201d LeMahieu said. \u201cHe looks like himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

That would be an athletic, two-way, switch-hitting player, when he\u2019s able to avoid injury. During the winter, Hicks said he thought if he stayed healthy, he could hit 30 homers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI definitely feel I can do that,\u2019\u2019 Hicks said. \u201cIt\u2019s just how I feel. I\u2019m extremely confident going into this season and ready to show it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s looked smooth in the outfield \u2014 including on the pair of running plays he made Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m definitely better in the outfield, tracking down balls,\u2019\u2019 Hicks said.<\/p>\n

And even if the offense hasn\u2019t been there in March, he believes it will be there when it matters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like if I play 150 games, the production is gonna be there and all the numbers I want to hit and my play on defense is definitely gonna show up. I\u2019m excited for this year.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
