{"id":213573,"date":"2021-03-29T07:12:49","date_gmt":"2021-03-29T04:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/massive-ship-ever-given-re-floated-in-suez-canal\/"},"modified":"2021-03-29T07:12:49","modified_gmt":"2021-03-29T04:12:49","slug":"massive-ship-ever-given-re-floated-in-suez-canal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/massive-ship-ever-given-re-floated-in-suez-canal\/","title":{"rendered":"#Massive ship Ever Given &#8216;re-floated&#8217; in Suez Canal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Massive ship Ever Given &#8216;re-floated&#8217; in Suez Canal<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/ever-given-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The massive container ship that has been stuck in the Suez Canal for six days was reportedly back afloat on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>A top pilot with the canal authority confirmed to the Associated Press that the Ever Given had been partially refloated after running aground last Tuesday in the crucial global shipping waterway.<\/p>\n<p>Maritime services provider Inchcape had <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Inchcape_SS\/status\/1376372667398422528\">earlier reported<\/a> the ship \u201cwas successfully re-floated,\u201d and said \u201cshe is being secured at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Canal services firm Leth Agencies, meanwhile, reported the Ever Given had been \u201cpartially refloated,\u201d without noting when it would be completely freed up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Satellite footage from MarineTraffic.com showed that the ship\u2019s bow had been wrested from the shore.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities earlier Sunday had brought two more powerful tugboats in the canal, bringing the total to 14 tugs working on moving the ship.<\/p>\n<p><!--If the slideshow is embedded in another post type add the inline wrapper --><\/p>\n<p>A mass of rock underneath the ship\u2019s bow has made freeing the ship difficult. Dredgers shifted more than 950,000 cubic feet of sand and dug down nearly 60 feet.<\/p>\n<p>The blockage caused delays to at least 369 boats, which lined up in a massive traffic jam waiting to pass through the canal, which handles up to 15 percent of world trade.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are investigating how the Ever Given, which is about the length of the Empire State Building, became wedged in the canal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports blamed high winds and a sandstorm that affected visibility.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But over the weekend, Egyptian officials said human error may have contributed to the ship running aground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sunday night\u2019s breakthrough comes as workers were set to begin offloading some of its 18,300 containers to lighten the load on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--If the slideshow is embedded in another post type add the inline wrapper --><\/p>\n<p>The nearly-week long blockage of the busy waterway has caused about $9.6 billion in commercial losses per day, according to economic estimates calculated by Bloomberg, as ships that should have been heading between Europe and Asia stayed immobilized.<\/p>\n<p><em>With Post Wires<\/em>\n            <\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
