“#Los Angeles’ Just Foreshadow the Return of Sociopath David Kessler?<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Season 12, Episode 13 of NCIS: Los Angeles<\/em><\/a>, \u201cRed Rover, Red Rover.\u201d]<\/strong><\/p>\n

NCIS: LA<\/em> may be dealing with a major threat to ex-government agent and Callen\u2019s (Chris O\u2019Donnell<\/a>) girlfriend Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly<\/a>) right now \u2014 she\u2019s been kidnapp<\/a>ed and is being held in an unknown location \u2014 but \u201cRed Rover, Red Rover\u201d also reminds us of another danger still out there: sociopath David Kessler (Frank Military).<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ll recall, we met Kessler this season in Episode 5, \u201cRaising the Dead,\u201d and before he received a presidential pardon and was released from prison, he threatened to hunt down Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah<\/a>), have sex with her, and kill her, \u201cmaybe not in that order.\u201d (She helped put him away for crimes that included human trafficking of minors before she joined the team.) And since then, we haven\u2019t heard much about him \u2014 until the March 28 episode.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all tied to Anna being willing to partner up with Russian operatives to kill a psychopath who wants her dead (Eve Harlow\u2019s Katya). It\u2019s \u201ceither that or spending her whole life looking over her shoulder wondering when everything\u2019s going to come crashing down,\u201d Kensi said to her husband, NCIS Investigator Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen<\/a>). \u201cI hate to admit it but Kessler\u2019s right. He\u2019s in my head. There\u2019s not a day that goes by that I don\u2019t wonder if I should just drop everything and put an end to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deeks is all in: \u201cThis guy\u2019s been hanging over our lives for months now. He said he wants to find you and to torture you but the truth is, he doesn\u2019t have to find you to torture you because he\u2019s doing it right now. I love you. And we\u2019re trying to conceive. And you need your rest. And your body is constantly in fight or flight, so screw that and screw him. Let\u2019s hunt him down and let\u2019s drag him back to prison.\u201d<\/p>\n

But as Kensi points out, they can\u2019t just put him back in prison since he\u2019s been pardoned. And that makes him even more dangerous. Even if they find him \u2014 no one knows what he\u2019s been doing since his release \u2014 they can\u2019t do anything until he makes a move. By then, it could be too late.<\/p>\n

The reminder of Kessler\u2019s existence, however, makes us wonder if he\u2019ll return soon. With the season finale set for May 23, there are only so many more episodes left to tackle that storyline this year. Perhaps Kessler will be involved in a finale-ending cliffhanger? (NCIS: LA<\/em> has yet to be renewed for Season 13, but with New Orleans<\/em><\/a>ending this year and NCIS<\/em>\u2018<\/a>future in the air, we think it\u2019s a safe bet that it will be.)<\/p>\n

And with Deeks more than willing to be involved and stick by his wife\u2019s side, we can\u2019t help but think he, not Kensi, could be the one who ends up in serious trouble. After all, what better way to continue to psychologically torture Kensi than to go after someone she loves?<\/p>\n

Back in December, Ruah teased for TV Insider that Kessler\u2019s first episode could very well be setting up something that has happened on the show in the past: \u201cLater on when you least expect it, it just blows up in your face. It surprises the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whatever does happen, one thing\u2019s for sure: We can\u2019t wait to see Kensi take down this nightmare from her past.<\/p>\n
