In what is perhaps one of the unlikeliest of rock music collaborations, glam rock icon Sir Elton John has announced that he\u2019s working with Metallica. <\/p>\n

The 74-year-old legend spoke to singer SG Lewis on his Elton\u2019s Apple Music show \u201cRocket Hour\u201d<\/a> about the upcoming project \u2014 which he revealed in no specific terms. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just done something with Metallica, during this lockdown period,\u201d Elton said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t been doing any Elton stuff \u2014 but I\u2019ve been doing great stuff with other people,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo I\u2019ll get you my email, email me and let\u2019s get together and do something, OK?\u201d<\/p>\n

Nothing more was revealed regarding said side projects, but the news<\/a> adds to Metallica\u2019s pop music reach as of late. It was late last year when Miley Cyrus revealed that she was planning a Metallica-endorsed covers album<\/a> \u2014 which reportedly features the \u201cRocketman\u201d man on piano for a new version of the band\u2019s 1991 single \u201cNothing Else Matters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so excited about this collaboration,\u201d Cyrus told Capital FM in January. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, having Elton John and Metallica and me \u2026 I love when ingredients don\u2019t quite fit. Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together, and you gotta have someone like [the song\u2019s producer Andrew] Watt that will take that risk,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The musicians\u2019 mutual respect runs deep. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich shared an image of himself, wife Jessica Miller and Sir Elton back in 2019, backstage at the Chase Center in San Francisco, where the rockers performed with the San Francisco Symphony orchestra. <\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond inspiring to spend an evening in the company of one of the greatest songwriters and entertainers ever\u2026. thank you Elton for your generosity and embracing vibes!,\u201d Ulrich wrote of the occasion.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
