The\u00a0Thor: Love and Thunder<\/em> <\/strong>cast now includes Russell Crowe<\/strong>. Crowe\u2019s role is being kept secret, and it\u2019s assumed that it won\u2019t amount to more than a cameo. Still, the actor has been confirmed to app<\/a>ear in the Taika Waititi<\/strong>-directed Marvel Studios sequel, which stars Chris Hemsworth<\/strong>, Tessa Thompson<\/strong>, Natalie Portman<\/strong>, Christian Bale<\/strong>, Chris Pratt<\/strong>, Jaimie Alexander<\/strong>, Pom Klementieff<\/strong>, Dave Bautista<\/strong>, Karen Gillan<\/strong>, Sean Gunn<\/strong>, and maybe even\u00a0Jeff Goldblum<\/strong>, too.<\/p>\n

Chris Hemsworth recently posted a pic<\/a> of himself at the\u00a0NRL derby at Sydney Olympic Park, and in the post, he offered special thanks to Russell Crowe. The Australian news<\/a> source\u00a0News.com.au<\/a> confirmed that Hemsworth was using Crowe\u2019s private\u00a0box at Stadium Australia. This immedia<\/a>tely led people to start speculating that Crowe might be involved with\u00a0Thor: Love and Thunder<\/em>, which is currently shooting in Australia.
\nNow, Deadline has confirmed that Crowe is indeed in the movie. We have no idea who Crowe is playing, and Deadline stresses his role is a \u201ccameo,\u201d but there you have it. Love and Thunder<\/em> is shaping up to have a series<\/a> of cameos \u2013 Melissa McCarthy<\/strong> was also recently spotted on set, filming what seems to be a scene that recreates events for\u00a0Thor: Ragnarok<\/em>. That\u00a0Thor<\/em> film featured actors in a play recreating elements of the\u00a0Thor<\/em> franchise, and it\u2019s a good bet that this film will follow suit. Does this mean Crowe will pop up in the play scene? Perhaps! Feel free to speculate wildly! It\u2019s also worth noting that Jeff Goldblum, who played the Grandmaster in\u00a0Ragnarok<\/em>, was also spotted at the game<\/a> with Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi, which could imply that Goldblum is coming back for the sequel as well.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t have all the plot details for\u00a0Thor: Love and Thunder<\/em>, but we know the story will involve characters from the\u00a0Guardians of the Galaxy<\/em> franchise, as Chris Pratt,\u00a0Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn are appearing in the film. We also know that Natalie Portman\u2019s Jane Foster will become the new Thor at some point, approximating a storyline that appeared in the\u00a0Thor<\/em> comics. And Tessa Thompson\u2019s Valkyrie, as the new King of Asgard, is going to go in search of a queen.<\/p>\n

While I kind of want Crowe to have a bigger role here beyond a cameo, I\u2019m digging the idea of having him show up in the film in some form. The\u00a0Thor<\/em> series has turned into a surprisingly fun saga thanks to Waititi\u2019s work and Hemsworth\u2019s considerable comedic timing, and\u00a0Love and Thunder<\/em> looks like it\u2019s shaping up to be something special.<\/p>\n
