Bam! Zing! Talk about a turkey of an idea!<\/p>\n

Comic-Con is getting hit on all sides for its move to host a convention this year during Thanksgiving weekend.<\/p>\n

The trade show for fans of everything from Spider-Man to Star Wars \u2014 which has not held a live convention in more than a year because of the coronavirus \u2014 announced Saturday that it will host \u2018Comic-Con Special Edition\u2019 at the San Diego Convention Center from Nov. 26 to Nov. 28, the three days following Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Thanksgiving #ComicCon?,\u201d\u00a0tweeted<\/a>\u00a0one comic head, @TheFirstEcho. \u201cAm I supposed to wait in line for Hall H while eating leftover stuffing and cranberry sauce?\u201d<\/p>\n

Comic-Con blamed its decision to the \u201cacute impact\u201d that lost revenues have had on the organization. During the pandemic, it has hosted virtual events that bring in far less money.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully this event will short up our financial reserves and mark a slow return to larger in-person gatherings in 2022,\u201d said the organization\u2019s spokesperson, David Glanzer in a statement on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Glanzer did not immedia<\/a>tely respond to a query from The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf #SDCC is actually back this Thanksgiving, we will not be attending. #Priorities,\u201d the Boba Fett Fan Club responded<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wrote another angry attendee, \u201cSo they scheduled #SDCC on the same weekend as the first chance most families will (hopefully) be fully able to celebrate Thanksgiving in two years. See you in 2022!\u201d wrote Charles Soule<\/a>, author of \u201cLight of the Jedi\u201d and Daredevil comics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Later in the weekend, Comic-Con updated its statement with a defense of the decision, blaming a \u201cvery packed Convention Center calendar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOf the dates presented with the fewest restrictions, Friday through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend seemed to be the best balance of available space and our envisioned event,\u201d according to the statement. \u201cWe understand this choice is not optimal for everyone.\u201d <\/p>\n

Comic-Con added that the event won\u2019t be full-capacity like previous years, calling it an \u201cattempt to start slowly and cautiously while at the same time addressing the desire from fans to have an in-person show.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
