This week\u2019s severe\u00a0weather\u00a0in the Mid-South was visible from\u00a0outer space.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stunning imagery from the\u00a0National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration\u2019s (NOAA)<\/a>\u00a0GOES East\u00a0satellite\u00a0captured the Thursday \u201csupercell\u201d that produced a large tornado in\u00a0Alabama\u00a0near Brent and Centerville.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the 16-second timelapse, you can see the lightning that accompanied the storm during March 25,\u201d the agency wrote Friday on\u00a0Twitter<\/a>\u00a0in a message accompanying the 16-second clip.<\/p>\n

As many as 10\u00a0tornadoes\u00a0tore through\u00a0both Alabama and Georgia<\/a>\u00a0starting Thursday.<\/p>\n

The storms that\u00a0killed at least six people<\/a>\u00a0continued passing through the region early Friday morning, bringing\u00a0an EF-4 tornado<\/a>\u00a0to northwestern\u00a0Newnan, Ga.\u00a0that left the city looking\u00a0like a \u201cwar zone.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

As the system moved eastward \u2014\u00a0with thunderstorms and hazardous\u00a0flash-flooding<\/a>\u00a0in other states \u2014\u00a0a tornado also touched down in\u00a0Vermont\u00a0on Friday, injuring at least two people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

North Carolina\u2019s\u00a0South Fork River began flooding its banks in Cramerton earlier in the day, forcing officials to close down the nearby pier, according to a\u00a0report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Farther up the East Coast, residents of\u00a0Rochester, NY, were surprised to see what they thought was a massive tornado or waterspout\u00a0but\u00a0turned out to be \u201cscud\u201d clouds<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 a low-lying\u00a0cloud formation that connects to the base of the main storm but does not rotate.<\/p>\n

Strong\u00a0winds that ripped through the Empire State\u00a0knocked out power for more than 2,000 people<\/a>\u00a0in Western New York and dangerous conditions are expected to continue in the East and the South through the weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service (NWS)\u00a0forecasts the threat of an isolated tornado as far up as New Jersey, though another potent storm system will move across the South and Southeast this weekend, according to a\u00a0report.<\/a><\/p>\n

Severe storms will be possible<\/a>\u00a0across the lower\u00a0Mississippi\u00a0and\u00a0Tennessee Valleys\u00a0and all hazards are possible including more tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, hail and flash flooding, the NOAA said.<\/p><\/div>\n
