\n Pok\u00e9mon<\/span> GO is an addictive game<\/a> and you can find yourself stuck to the screen in a hunt of mythical creatures for many hours a week. But wouldn\u2019t it be fantastic if we could do all of that without a phone?<\/p>\n

I hope that\u2019s possible through Niantic\u2019s AR glasses \u2014 a teaser of which Niantic CEO John Hanke shared on Twitter<\/a>.\u00a0The company, which is also behind Pokemon GO<\/span>\u00a0didn\u2019t say much about when these will be available or exactly what they\u2019ll be capable of.<\/span><\/p>\n

While\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon<\/span>\u00a0GO on AR glasses might be a pipe dream, for now, it\u2019s no secret that Niantic wants to map the world for augmented reality<\/a>. Last year, the firm announced that\u00a0the Niantic Real World Platform<\/a>\u00a0to enable AR experiences on gadgets ranging from phones to \u201cthe wearable devices of the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Niantic showed off a demo of real-world Pokemon GO gameplay on Hololens 2 headset at Microsoft\u2019s Ignite developer conference.<\/p>\n

The demo indicated that the game could work on mixed reality glasses \u2014 at least in a test environment. The company hasn\u2019t indicated when it plans to unveil these glasses. We\u2019ve asked Niantic for a comment, and we\u2019ll update the story if we hear back.<\/p>\n

If analyst predictions are correct, Apple\u2019s own AR glasses are coming in 2025<\/a>,\u00a0and Oppo\u2019s set to release an AR headset with gesture control this year. So the AR glasses market is going to be very hot for the next few years. I, for one,\u00a0can\u2019t wait to play Pokemon GO with dorky AR glasses on.<\/span><\/p>\n
