This could be a knockout for fans of the enduring \u201cRocky\u201d franchise. <\/p>\n

A \u201ctime machine\u201d television series about Rocky Balboa is in the works, according to hand-scrawled notes Sylvester Stallone posted on Instagram. <\/p>\n

The 74-year-old \u2014 who scored three Oscar nods for the original 1976 film, which he wrote and starred in \u2014 shared photos of two pages of notes on Monday night, with the notepad header \u201cTreatment for Rocky prequel series.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis may be the strangest posting yet,\u201d Stallone wrote in the caption<\/a>. \u201cI started out this morning by writing a treatment for a\u00a0Rocky\u00a0<\/em>prequel for streaming. Ideally 10 episodes for a few seasons to really get to the heart of the Characters in there [sic] younger years.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere is a small portion of how my creative writing Process starts \u2026 Hope it happ<\/a>ens,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n

The first page shown sets the scene for readers: \u201cImagine a time machine that will simply transport us back to the origins of Rocky, a cinematic world brimming with characters that have been beloved by people around the world for nearly five decades!\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the notes, the origins story is set in the 1960s \u2014 what Stallone describes on the page as \u201cthe most transformative generation in modern history,\u201d noting the era\u2019s major milestones, including the moon landing, the civil rights movement and the Cold War. <\/p>\n

\u201cNeedless to say the 60s was a dynamic time,\u201d the description reads. \u201cYet among all this Social<\/a> Seismic Activity, we drop in on the rather plain life of 17-year-old Robert \u2018Rocky\u2019 Balboa. When we first met Rocky in 1976, he was a very lost soul \u2026 We now see this young man struggling like all young people trying to find their place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stallone first starred as \u201cRocky\u201d in 1976, the then little-known actor-screenwriter\u2019s breakout hit about a loan shark debt collector in Philadelphia who catches his big break in the ring. <\/p>\n

The film has gone on to spawn five franchise sequels \u2014 despite the fact that Stallone has, on multiple occasions, attempted to retire the character \u2014 plus two films as part of the \u201cCreed\u201d spin-off, staring Michael B. Jordon, whose third film in the series is due for release in 2022. (Sly also picked up a best supporting actor nod for \u201cCreed.\u201d)<\/p>\n

While the story of Rocky Balboa feels almost inextricable from Stallone himself, the news<\/a> as prompted fans on Instagram to urge Stallone for more prequel action from another one of his iconic characters \u2014 as a number of fans pleaded \u201cRambo prequel,\u201d please.<\/p>\n
