\nMiranda Lambert<\/strong> is looking back to a very special moment in her past.<\/p>\n

In Monday\u2019s episode of Essentials Radio<\/em> on\u00a0App<\/a>le Music<\/strong>, the 37-year-old country music crooner opened up about the process of co-writing her 2011 hit song\u00a0Over You<\/em> with then-husband\u00a0Blake Shelton<\/strong>. The song, which won the pair a\u00a0CMA Award<\/strong> for\u00a0Song Of The Year<\/strong> in 2012, was inspired by Shelton\u2019s late brother\u00a0Richie<\/strong>, who died in a car accident in 1990 at the age of 24.<\/p>\n

Recalling what it was like to collaborate with the\u00a0Voice<\/em> coach on something so emotional and significant, Lambert got real with her nostalgic look back at the whole thing, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy ex-husband, Blake, had lost a brother and it\u2019s one of those moments where even if you\u2019re married to someone, sometimes you find something new about them. Dudes don\u2019t open up about things but he started telling me about the experience of it all. And I was like, \u2018Have you ever written about it?’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to Lambert, Shelton explained how he\u2019d never written about it before, but that his father used to tell him, \u201cYou don\u2019t get over it, you just get used to it\u201d when referring to the pain and grief. Remembering back to that moment, Lambert then asked Shelton if maybe he\u2019d want to write about it with her \u2014 and the rest was history.<\/p>\n

The Bluebird<\/em> recalled the powerful experience, explaining:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I was like, \u2018Well, could we write it? Do you want to try or is that invasive?\u2019 [I was like], \u2018I would never try to write your story because I didn\u2019t live it, but maybe I could help because I\u2019m an outside perspective but I feel your pain talking to me right now.\u2019 [Now, looking back] it was really a special moment and I\u2019m so glad we shared that song and that it helped his family heal, to have that together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Amazing! And the song did very well on the charts, at the award shows, and most importantly with the country music faithful \u2014\u00a0 so it\u2019s clear that the lyrics and theme really touched a heart string with the country music audience.<\/p>\n

Of course, Miranda and Blake would split three years after that song was released; after having been together for ten years and married for four, the two country music superstars announced they were going their separate ways back in 2015.<\/p>\n

All\u2019s turned out well for each, though; Blake is now engaged to SoCal dub progenitor and\u00a0No Doubt<\/strong> front woman Gwen Stefani<\/strong>, and Lambert has found love again with former NYPD officer\u00a0Brendan McLoughlin<\/strong>, whom she married in 2019.<\/p>\n

Even through all that though, it\u2019s definitely sweet and special to know that this meaningful song will forever link Lambert and Shelton in such a way, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
