Danny McBride<\/strong> can add animated movie filmmaker to his credentials \u2014 which already include actor, comedia<\/a>n, writer, director, and producer. The Righteous Gemstones<\/em> star and creator is developing an animated movie titled\u00a0Trouble<\/em><\/strong> with Spire Animation Studios<\/strong>, a newly launched studio from\u00a0Ratatouille\u00a0<\/em>producer\u00a0Brad Lewis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Deadline reports that Danny McBride\u2019s Rough House Pictures is partnering with Spire Animation Studios to develop an animated feature film called\u00a0Trouble<\/em>.
\nTrouble<\/em> follows \u201cJax, a 13-year-old who gets in trouble with his family, and is swept into a parallel reality known as the World of Trouble. Embarking on a whimsical adventure within this bizarre and fantastic world of chaotic adolescence, he makes new friends, reflects on his character and learns the value of self-forgiveness, all while trying to figure out how to get out of trouble, and get back home.\u201d<\/p>\n

McBride and Brad Lewis \u2014 a veteran of the animation industry who has produced hits like\u00a0Ratatouille<\/em>,\u00a0How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World<\/em>, and\u00a0The Lego Batman Movie<\/em> and who recently co-founded Spire Animation Studios \u2014 created the original story for\u00a0Trouble<\/em>, which will be written by\u00a0Kevin Barnett<\/strong> and Chris Papp<\/a>as<\/strong> (The Wrong Missy<\/em>,\u00a0The Do-Over<\/em>). The film will be executive produced by Spire\u2019s\u00a0P.J. Gunsagar<\/strong>, along with Rough House Pictures\u2019 Brandon James<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

No cast has yet been set, but it seems like the kind of Pixar-lite high concept adventure film that we\u2019ve begun to see lately from competing animation studios. And Lewis\u2019 roots in Pixar, having also performed in\u00a0The Incredibles<\/em> and\u00a0co-directed\u00a0Cars 2<\/em>, shows in the story. What is the World of Trouble, exactly? A world where trouble and mischief gain sentient form? Who knows, but I guess we\u2019ll find out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea of being in trouble is a universal fear we\u2019ve all experienced growing up,\u201d said McBride in a statement. \u201cBeing able to build out what that world could look like and exploring how we can make this an animated adventure with Brad and the team at Spire has been awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDanny has such a unique sensibility and grasp of wonderfully irreverent characters, creating a story together is a dream come true,\u201d added Lewis. \u201cI\u2019m definitely looking forward to getting into\u00a0Trouble<\/em>\u00a0together, and bringing to life the three words kids all over the world fear\u2026you\u2019re in trouble.\u201d
\nMcBride has lent his voiced to animated films before like\u00a0Despicable Me,<\/em>\u00a0Kung Fu Panda 2<\/em>, the\u00a0Angry Bird<\/em>\u00a0movies<\/a>, and Netflix\u2019s upcoming\u00a0The Mitchells vs. The Machines<\/em>, but it\u2019ll be interesting to see how he fares in crafting an animated feature. Meanwhile, Spire, which was co-founded last year by Lewis and Gunsagar, is also relatively untested, with only one other upcoming animated film on its slate: a musical called\u00a0Century Goddess<\/em>.<\/p>\n

No cast or release date has yet been set for\u00a0Trouble<\/em>.<\/p>\n
