Facebook will let users customize their feed and give them control over who can comment on their public posts, the social media giant said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The company will also offer a Feed Filter Bar that would allow users to switch between the algorithmic ranking of their feed or show content in the order it was posted.<\/p>\n

The changes come as the world\u2019s largest social network has been under fire for amplifying hate speech and misinformation globally across its platforms.<\/p>\n

Users can manage the comments for any public post by choosing from options such as anyone who can view the post can comment or only people and pages they tag,\u00a0Facebook\u00a0said in a blog post.<\/p>\n

Separately, Nick Clegg, vice president of Global Affairs at\u00a0Facebook, claimed in a Medium post on Wednesday that the company\u2019s algorithms do not lead to polarization.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reality is, it\u2019s not in\u00a0Facebook\u2019s interest \u2014 financially or reputationally \u2014 to continually turn up the temperature and push users towards ever more extreme content,\u201d Clegg said.<\/p>\n

He also noted that the majority of\u00a0Facebook\u2019s revenue comes from advertising, and advertisers would not want their brands and products displayed right next to \u201cextreme or hateful content.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
