However, many users have refused to accept the e-commerce company\u2019s seemingly pro-crypto stance given the timing \u2014 at the time of publication, it is already April Fools\u2019 Day in India. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The future is here. However, reports have been circulating of the Indian government introducing a possible ban on private cryptocurrencies in the country. Many Flipkart users seemingly doubted the veracity of the company\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA massive company like Flipkart would not take such a risk given the uncertainties in the regulations here,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoShrikar\/status\/1377334109412859906\">said<\/a> Twitter user Shrikar Parashar.<\/p>\n<p>Many Crypto Twitter users said that even though they believed the announcement was an April Fools\u2019 Day joke, the message <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SudeepNbr\/status\/1377327023203487747\">was<\/a> still a bullish indicator for the space \u201cgood for Bitcoin awareness.\u201d Others speculated that if Flipkart didn\u2019t hold up its end on Bitcoin payments, the alleged joke might drive users away:<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-03\/8dc4c632-9485-4537-888a-b0996e627ff6.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>The crypto space is annually beset with fake <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> reports around April 1 that sometimes go viral before the majority of readers find the fine print revealing they were jokes. For a few years, CoinMarketCap has listed Toilet Paper Token (TPT) as the number \u201c0\u201d digital asset in its list of cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
