CBS is reviving one of its most successful franchises. The network has ordered CSI: Vegas to series, a sequel to the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation<\/em> series which ran for 15 seasons, from 2000 until 2015. The original CSI<\/em> was one of the most-watched series on network television for years and inspired three earlier spin-offs \u2014 CSI: Miami<\/em> (2002-2012), CSI: New York<\/em> (2004-2013), and CSI: Cyber<\/em> (2014-2016).<\/p>\n

The CSI: Vegas<\/em> series will be part of CBS\u2019 2021-22 television season and will see the returns of CSI<\/em> stars William Petersen, Jorja Fox (above), and Wallace Langham. They\u2019ll be joined in this new series by Paula News<\/a>ome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez, and Mandeep Dhillon.<\/p>\n

<\/span>When word of a possible revival initially surfaced, it was described as an event series. The network\u2019s press release doesn\u2019t indicate this is a one-and-done season so, if it performs well enough, CSI: Vegas<\/em> could certainly return for a second season. It also seems likely that others from the CSI<\/em> franchise could make app<\/a>earances.<\/p>\n

The New CBS Original Series Will Star Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez and Mandeep Dhillon<\/p>\n

CBS announced today it has given a series order to CSI: VEGAS, the sequel to the Network\u2019s global hit \u201cCSI: Crime Scene Investigation,\u201d one of the most-watched drama series of the 21st century. Original \u201cCSI: Crime Scene Investigation\u201d stars William Petersen and Jorja Fox will reprise their roles as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, respectively. Produced by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, the new CBS original series will star Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez and Mandeep Dhillon. Original CSI star Wallace Langham will also return to the series as David Hodges.<\/p>\n

CSI: VEGAS opens a brand new chapter in Las Vegas, the city where it all began. Facing an existential threat that could bring down the Crime Lab, a brilliant new team of forensic investigators must welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Sin City.<\/p>\n

Jason Tracey will serve as executive producer and showrunner for CSI: VEGAS. Uta Briesewitz will direct the first episode and serve as executive producer (initial episode only). Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Anthony Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Craig O\u2019Neill, William Petersen and Cindy Chvatal also serve as executive producers. The series will be produced by CBS Studios in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and distributed internationally by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.<\/p>\n

Created by Anthony Zuiker, \u201cCSI: Crime Scene Investigation\u201d premiered Oct. 6, 2000 on CBS, and aired for 15 seasons, completing 335 episodes. It earned six Emmy Awards and 39 Emmy nominations. The drama originally starred William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, Gary Dourdan, George Eads, Jorja Fox and Paul Guilfoyle. The franchise also included \u201cCSI: Miami\u201d (2002-2012); \u201cCSI: New York\u201d (2004-2013); and \u201cCSI: Cyber\u201d (2014-2016).<\/p>\n

\u201cCSI: Crime Scene Investigation\u201d was the most watched drama series in the world for seven years between 2006 and 2016*. \u201cCSI\u201d was one of the most watched drama series franchise globally in the past 20 years.<\/p>\n
