If you have a new Mac, you might be wondering where your \u201cMusic\u201d folder is, since App<\/a>le doesn\u2019t put it in your Finder\u2019s Favorites sidebar by default anymore. But fear not: It\u2019s still there. Here\u2019s how to find it, and how to add it to your Favorites sidebar again.<\/p>\n

First, click the Finder icon in your Dock. That makes Finder the active app in the foreground.<\/p>\n

Select \u201cGo\u201d in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and in the menu that appears, select \u201cHome.\u201d (Or press Shift+Command+H on your keyboard.)<\/p>\n

Your \u201cHome\u201d folder will open in Finder, and you\u2019ll see the \u201cMusic\u201d folder listed with your other special folders. If you need to open the \u201cMusic\u201d folder now, double-click its icon.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to add your \u201cMusic\u201d folder to your Finder sidebar, there are two ways to do it. One of the easiest ways is to click and drag the icon into the \u201cFavorites\u201d section of your sidebar.<\/p>\n

After you release your mouse or trackpad button, the \u201cMusic\u201d folder will appear in the sidebar. (If you\u2019d like, you can rearrange the order of your Favorites by dragging the items up and down in the list.)<\/p>\n

Alternately, you can add the \u201cMusic\u201d folder to the sidebar using Finder Preferences. First, open Finder Preferences by selecting \u201cFinder\u201d > \u201cPreferences\u201d from the menu bar (or by pressing Command+, (comma) on your keyboard). In Finder Preferences, select \u201cSidebar,\u201d then place a checkmark beside \u201cMusic\u201d in the list.<\/p>\n

After that, close Finder Preferences. From now on, whenever you need to quickly access your Music folder, just open a Finder window and click the shortcut in your sidebar. Nice and easy!<\/p>\n
