\nIce Cube is reportedly suing popular stock trading app<\/a> Robinhood<\/a> for allegedly using his likeness without his permission.<\/p>\n

According to TMZ,\u00a0<\/em><\/a>the gangsta rap pioneer filed the suit earlier this week after he discovered a Robinhood news<\/a>letter with his face on it and a play on his infamous \u201cCheck Yo\u2019 Self\u201d line in the caption \u2014 \u201cCorrect Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself\u201d \u2014 to endorse their new Snacks brand.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

In the legal documents, Cube reportedly said\u00a0Robinhood is the \u201cantithesis of everything he stands for\u201d and referred to their products and services as \u201chorrible.\u201d Cube\u00a0also suggested Robinhood has an issue with his business partner Jeff Kwatinetz who also has an impending lawsuit against the company and this is their way of antagonizing Kwatinetz.<\/p>\n

But Robinhood has already pushed back, denying they did anything illegal.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, we didn\u2019t use his image without permission,\u201d a spokesperson told the outlet. \u201cThe image was licensed and used for non-commercial, editorial purposes in connection with a blog article.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source reportedly close to Ice Cube begs to differ, saying, \u201cThis is Robinhood exhibiting lack of respect for the law or the people they hurt. Ice Cube did not license his image nor his lyrics printed next to his picture and would never endorse Robinhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen asked to take it down because he was offended, Robinhood refused. In addition, calling blatant propaganda for Robinhood\u2019s trading app and online services merely \u2018editorial use\u2019 shows someone needs to send their lawyer back to school.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
