Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le to use Tesla battery packs for solar-energy storage facility: report<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"article__subhead\" itemprop=\"alternativeHeadline\">\n<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"column column--full article__content\">\n<div id=\"js-article__body\" class=\"article__body article-wrap at16-col16 barrons-article-wrap\" itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-sbid=\"WP-MKTW-0000217681\">\n<div class=\"barrons-article-ad-wrapper\">\n<div data-track=\"barrons-article-ad-wrap\" class=\"barrons-article-ad sticky_item\">\n<div class=\"barrons-main-article-ad-target sticky_target body_ad\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       Apple Inc. will use Tesla Inc. battery packs to store energy from a solar farm in Northern California, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/3\/31\/22360839\/apple-tesla-megapack-energy-storage-grid-solar-batteries\" class=\"icon none\">a report by The Verge<\/a> on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p> Earlier in the day, Apple<br \/>\n        AAPL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202934861\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.88%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       announced a renewable-energy storage project near its solar facility in Monterey County, south of San Jose, that will store about 240-magawatt hours of energy \u2014 enough to power about 7,000 homes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       While the announcement did not mention Tesla, a Monterey County planning official confirmed to The Verge that Apple will use 85 Tesla<br \/>\n        TSLA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203558040\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+5.08%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       lithium-ion \u201cmegapacks\u201d for the project, which will help power Apple\u2019s headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2021\/03\/apple-powers-ahead-in-new-renewable-energy-solutions-with-over-110-suppliers\/?afid=p239%7C10078&amp;cid=aos-us-aff-ir\" class=\"icon none\">In a statement<\/a>, Apple said the \u201cCalifornia Flats\u201d project will be \u201cone of the largest battery projects in the country,\u201d and will support its solar farm that generates 130-megawatt hours and supplies all of Apple\u2019s renewable energy in California.
