“#Mdou Moctar Shares New Song \u201cAfrique Victime\u201d: Listen<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Mdou Moctar has shared the video for the title track of his forthcoming LP Afrique Victime<\/em>, due out May 21 via Matador. The video was shot in November in Niamey, Niger, amid a short series<\/a> of impromptu performances. Check it out below.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Afrique Victime\u2019 is a message to all of the countries with money and power who come into Africa and kill the leaders who try to empower the people and lead revolutions,\u201d Moctar said in a press release. He continued:<\/p>\n

This pushes the area into danger and instability and emboldens the terrorists, and it\u2019s the people who suffer and have no justice. Africa is innocent. The French use our uranium, but 90% of the people here don’t have electricity. Imagine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cAfrique Victime\u201d is the album\u2019s third offering, following \u201cTala Tannam<\/a>\u201d and \u201cChismiten.\u201d Moctar\u2019s last album was 2019\u2019s Ilana (The Creator)<\/em>.<\/p>\n
