href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> profiles emerging artists to know now.<br \/><\/b><\/i><br \/>\u201cWhen I put an album on, it&#8217;ll change the weather, and it\u2019ll change the person I am, and it\u2019ll change the walls that surround me.\u201d In intense, breathy strokes, Sarah Downey \u2014 the big-eyed, narcotically-voiced singer and multi-instrumentalist who makes up one third of Drug Store Romeos \u2014 is trying to explain, with visually broad but emotionally precise detail, the overwhelming escapism that music, and specifically music that isn\u2019t particularly modern or analog, offers her. \u201cI escape a lot deeper when it\u2019s not even about the narrative of the current day, when it\u2019s a narrative of a past time,\u201d she continues. \u201cIt\u2019s something that, when I\u2019m then writing that kind of music, then I can escape even further. I think it\u2019s the fact that because I never lived within that time, it then becomes mine, because I know what I imagined when I think about all these things going on. I don\u2019t pretend to really understand completely what it felt like, and I think that really makes it my own.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            If that sounds a little heady, don\u2019t worry \u2014 a few hours spent listening to Drug Store Romeos will probably help you untangle things. The London-based, Fleet-born trio, comprising Downey alongside multi-instrumentalists Charlie Henderson and Jonny Gilbert, make bright-eyed, expansive dream pop that, more often than not, feels like an exercise in recreating the lush textures and wide open spaces of the human imagination. It\u2019s absorbing, head-in-the-clouds music made with familiar textures \u2014 analog synthesisers and guitars, mostly \u2014 that leads somewhere wonderfully, disorientingly unfamiliar. This is pop-rocks-on-the-tongue-core, pressing-on-the-lids-of-your-eyes-core, inventing-alternate-histories-core. <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_block paragraph triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-221144\" class=\"content_block breaker triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left video\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\" style=\"padding-top: 56.25%;\">\n<p>    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Drug Store Romeos - What&#039;s On Your Mind\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NGAFfnDlj1I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\n \/\/trackYouTubeVideo('221144');\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-221140\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            Downey, 22, and Henderson and Gilbert, both 21, were all born and raised in Fleet, an hour or so outside of London, but they moved to the capital towards the beginning of 2020. When we Zoom to discuss their debut album, <i>The world within our bedrooms<\/i>, in early March, they\u2019re in the midst of London\u2019s third lockdown. The trio meet up for work \u2014 the various photoshoots and what-have-you that come along with an album rollout \u2014 but when we chat, they\u2019re calling in from their sharehouses: Henderson and Gilbert from their homes in the Harringay warehouse district, and Downey from Hackney. Although <i>The world within our bedrooms<\/i> points to the fabulous, strange possibilities to be found in the safety of one\u2019s bedroom, these scenes coming through to my screen <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to be charmingly mundane: Henderson\u2019s housemates are loudly watching <i>Star Wars<\/i> in another room \u2014 \u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful day! It\u2019s like, the first sunny day in ages!\u201d Downey exclaims upon receiving this information \u2014 while intermittent conversation drifts in and out of Gilbert\u2019s frame. Downey manages to call in without incident, until her 4G runs out, and she has to attempt to buy more over the phone, at which point the gentle tones of an automated cell phone provider begin to ring through the speakers. <\/p>\n<p>            Fleet, and the Drug Store Romeos\u2019 life there, is, by the band\u2019s account, unremarkable. A quick sketch: it\u2019s all \u201cgreeny-blue tiles in the shopping centre, browny-oranges,\u201d says Gilbert of the town\u2019s palette; \u201cIt\u2019s very comfortable,\u201d adds Downey, \u201cThere\u2019s not a lot of crime, it\u2019s just really sleepy, and there\u2019s about seven old-peoples homes in the entire small town.\u201d Henderson is the most critical of Fleet, but also has the most praise to give it: he speaks with fondness of the town\u2019s green spaces, particularly one park called Tweseldown, and for Fleet pond. \u201cIt\u2019s just okay, and because it\u2019s okay, a lot of people just accept this mediocrity,\u201d Henderson says. \u201cThat was something that really terrified me when I was 18 or 19 \u2014 the potential for maybe getting trapped there. People spend their whole lives in Fleet.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Henderson and Gilbert met when they were 14, through mutual friends. He and Gilbert went to college \u2014 the British equivalent of American high school years \u2014 and began attending shows that were decidedly more contemporary than the dad-core punk shows they were used to going to. At those shows, crammed into rooms with hundreds or thousands of other teens and twenty-somethings, Henderson and Gilbert suddenly felt their relationship to music shift. \u201cIt was an entirely different experience, and made us want to make music that was relevant to people our age, or that had a scene based around it, and that was played by like, 20-year-olds,\u201d says Henderson. <\/p>\n<p>            Looking to round out he and Gilbert\u2019s duo, Henderson posted on the sixth form Facebook page, asking for a bassist; Downey, despite not playing bass, spent all her money to buy one, and decided to fake her way through it. \u201cBefore this band I was pretty obsessed with making music with people \u2014 I would meet up with strangers on the internet, I was so desperate,\u201d Downey recalls.<\/p>\n<p>            The trio\u2019s friendship grew fast, and soon enough they were doing everything together \u2014 spending their days together, partying together on weekends, and sharing each others\u2019 clothes. \u201cIt was kind of like hedonism and self discovery but all in the best ways,\u201d says Gilbert. \u201cWe were kind of enjoying life, but it was also the starting of something fragile and amazing that\u2019s gone on to become what it is. The entire 15-track record has an inviting, dusky atmosphere; it\u2019s redolent of Broadcast and Devotion-era Beach House, although maybe a little more \u2018cid-y, a little more pill-y. Many of the songs on the album are the result of a staunch commitment to experimentalism, to art as a practise rather than something you fall into. Sometimes, they stem from self-challenges, as when Henderson tried to make a song with as many chord changes as possible, leading to the gorgeous, elegiac \u201cWhat\u2019s On Your Mind\u201d; other times, they\u2019ll take direct influence from an artist the band is obsessed with the time, as is the case with Spaceman 3 and the band\u2019s heart-racing breakout \u201cFrame of Reference\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>            Henderson eventually dropped out of college to study music production, while Downey dropped out to educate herself in a style more appropriate to what she cared about. Instead of school, she painted herself a historical timeline and began researching whatever took her fancy.
