The\u00a0Transformers<\/em><\/strong> series<\/a> will never end, so we\u2019re getting yet another new\u00a0Transformers<\/em> sequel. This latest entry in the robots in disguise series comes from director\u00a0\u00a0Steven Caple Jr.<\/strong> (Creed II<\/em>), and now it looks like the flick has found its lead \u2013 Anthony Ramos<\/strong>, star of Hamilton<\/em> and the upcoming\u00a0In the Heights<\/em>. Ramos will play a \u201cflawed and vulnerable hero,\u201d and there\u2019s a good chance he\u2019ll spend most of the film yelling \u201cOptimus!\u201d as stuff explodes around him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Collider<\/a> has the scoop that Anthony Ramos is joining the new\u00a0Transformers<\/em> sequel cast. The latest entry in the never-ending franchise is being directed by\u00a0Steven Caple Jr., who helmed\u00a0Creed II<\/em>. We don\u2019t have plot details at the moment, but I will take a wild guess and say the film will involve\u00a0Autobots and Decepticons smashing shit up as they engage in CGI-filled fights.<\/p>\n

As for Ramos, his character is described as a \u201cflawed and vulnerable hero who has made mistakes in his life and is eager to redeem himself with the help of Optimus Prime.\u201d I\u2019m sure we\u2019ve all wished we, too, could redeem ourselves with the help of Optimus Prime, so this will surely speak to audiences everywhere.\u00a0Joby Harold<\/strong>, who wrote\u00a0King Arthur: Legend of the Sword<\/em>, the upcoming Zack Snyder film\u00a0Army of the Dead<\/em>, and episodes of the\u00a0Obi-Wan Kenobi<\/em> series, is handling the script<\/a>.\u00a0James Vanderbilt (Zodiac<\/em>) was also tasked with a script for the film at the same time, but the studio ultimately went with Harold\u2019s version.
\nRamos seems poised for superstardom. He appeared in the original Broadway run of\u00a0Hamilton<\/em> and can be seen in the filmed version on Disney+. Next, he\u2019ll appear in\u00a0In the Heights<\/em>, which is set to arrive on\u00a0June 17, 2021. His credits also include\u00a0A Star is Born<\/em> and\u00a0Honest Thief<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Transformers<\/em> film franchise kicked off with Michael Bay\u2019s 2007 blockbuster\u00a0Transformers<\/em>. That was followed by\u00a0Revenge of the Fallen<\/i>\u00a0(2009),\u00a0Dark of the Moon<\/i>\u00a0(2011),\u00a0Age of Extinction<\/i>\u00a0(2014), and\u00a0The Last Knight<\/i>\u00a0(2017). None of these films were good (they\u2019re junk, I\u2019m sorry), but they all made boffo bucks at the box office. Then there was the 2018 spin-off\u00a0Bumblebee<\/em>, which by most accounts was a big improvement on the series, but which also underperformed \u2013 it was a hit, but it was also the lowest-earning film in the series so far.<\/p>\n

The new\u00a0Transformers<\/em> sequel doesn\u2019t have a production start date yet, but it\u2019s expected to hit theaters on\u00a0June 24, 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
