{"id":218539,"date":"2021-04-03T22:09:39","date_gmt":"2021-04-03T19:09:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/ex-wework-ceo-adam-neumann-plotting-secret-new-pandemic-biz\/"},"modified":"2021-04-03T22:09:39","modified_gmt":"2021-04-03T19:09:39","slug":"ex-wework-ceo-adam-neumann-plotting-secret-new-pandemic-biz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/ex-wework-ceo-adam-neumann-plotting-secret-new-pandemic-biz\/","title":{"rendered":"#Ex-WeWork CEO Adam Neumann plotting secret new &#8216;pandemic&#8217; biz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Ex-WeWork CEO Adam Neumann plotting secret new &#8216;pandemic&#8217; biz<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Don\u2019t count Adam Neumann out. <\/p>\n<p>The disgraced former WeWork CEO may have lost his empire, but an insider told The Post that Neumann, 41, is already plotting his mysterious next business move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt involves what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened in the world because of the pandemic,\u201d the insider said. \u201cHe\u2019s got big plans and he\u2019s waiting for the right time to announce them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neumann reportedly hasn\u2019t seen the buzzy new Hulu documentary \u201cWeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn\u201d that details his spectacular rise and fall as CEO of the once-hot office space startup.<\/p>\n<p>The entrepreneur is portrayed in the documentary as a charismatic but deluded charlatan who convinced financial movers and shakers \u2014 from Chase Bank\u2019s Jamie Dimon to SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son \u2014 to mentor him and give him billions for WeWork before it all went very wrong in August 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Close friends and family members have \u201cdescribed\u201d the film to him but the wunderkind-turned punchline doesn\u2019t watch or read things about himself, an insider told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, he\u2019s holed up in his Greenwich Village home with his wife, Rebekah, and five children, working on the \u201cbrand-new\u201d venture.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn \u2022 Official Trailer -  A Hulu Original\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HVAESeO7dgc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Neumann hasn\u2019t spoken publicly since leaving the company in September 2019, six weeks after his communal office space company filed documents for an IPO, boasting an eye-popping valuation of $47 billion. But that valuation fell by half over the next month and the IPO failed amidst revelations that the company was losing money and that its growth projections were wildly optimistic. Adding to it: reports of Neumann\u2019s rock \u2018n\u2019 roll excesses,\u00a0including wild spending and marijuana use aboard a private jet, and financial irregularities. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Wall Street Journal, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/softbank-to-take-control-of-wework-11571746483?mod=e2tw\">Neumann was paid $1.7 billion<\/a> in return for severing most of his ties with WeWork.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also been widely mocked for pronouncements about wanting to live forever and referring to WeWork \u2014 essentially an office space sub-leasing business \u2014 as something that would \u201celevate the world\u2019s consciousness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After losing the business, the family and their nannies decamped to Israel to lay low for several months. Clary\/AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But three people who know Neumann, who grew up for a time on a kibbutz in Israel, told The Post that he\u2019s not licking his wounds or hiding his head in shame \u2014 despite having <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/adam-neumann\/?sh=6e11d485474f\">fallen off Forbes\u2019 billionaires list<\/a> in 2020 after his net worth plunged from a high of $14 billion to $750 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe does feel he made mistakes but he also feels the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> made a sensation out of certain elements of the story,\u201d one source familiar with the situation told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe $47 billion valuation was probably a mistake. But WeWork is still a good company and he built it \u2026 It\u2019s got hundreds of locations. Co-working will become even more relevant as people start working out of the office even more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neumann launched WeWork in 2010 with co-founder Miguel McKelvey, who\u2019s barely mentioned in the documentary, and his wife Rebekah, a cousin of Gwyneth Paltrow.<\/p>\n<p>Rebekah, 42, a former aspiring actress and yoga instructor, is painted as a toxic, New Age Lady Macbeth in both the documentary and in the recent biography of her husband, \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Billion-Dollar-Loser-Spectacular-Neumann\/dp\/0316461369?tag=nypost-20\">Billion Dollar Loser<\/a>,\u201d by Reeves Wiedeman.<\/p>\n<p>According to Wiedeman, Rebekah\u2019s fingerprints were all over the key element of the company\u2019s near-implosion in August 2019 when WeWork filed its S-1 form in advance of a planned IPO.<\/p>\n<p>The Neumanns seemed unconcerned that the document, code-named\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-7525633\/WeWork-IPO-form-bosses-treated-like-issue-Vogue.html\">\u201cWingspan,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0revealed We Work\u2019s $1.6 billion losses \u2014 which horrified investors.
