Google TV devices, like the Chromecast with Google TV<\/a>, are great at surfacing content to watch, but not all of that content is family-friendly. Thankfully, you can set up a specific profile for your kids, complete with parental controls.<\/p>\n

You can have multiple profiles for everyone in your home on Google TV devices. The Kids profiles have a bunch of extra controls, including bedtimes, viewing limits, app<\/a> monitoring, and more.<\/p>\n

Creating a Kids profile will add them as a member to your Google Family<\/a>. It\u2019s not the same as creating a Kids profile from scratch, as you won\u2019t be assigning them a Gmail address. Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n

On the Google TV home screen, select your profile icon in the top-right corner.<\/p>\n

From the menu, select your account.<\/p>\n

Now, choose \u201cAdd a Kid\u201d to proceed.<\/p>\n

Next, you\u2019ll be greeted with a friendly introduction screen. Select \u201cGet Started.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you previously added a Kids account to your Google Family, you\u2019ll see them listed here. You can select them, \u201cAdd Another Kid,\u201d or \u201cAdd a Kid.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next screen will ask for your child\u2019s name. You could also put a generic \u201cKids\u201d label here if you want this to be a shared profile. Select \u201cNext\u201d when you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n

Now it will ask for your child\u2019s age. Again, you don\u2019t have to be specific here if you don\u2019t want to be. Select \u201cNext\u201d when you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll now see some Terms of Service and Parental Consent information from Google. Select \u201cAgree\u201d after you\u2019ve looked everything over and accepted it.<\/p>\n

The last step for creating the profile is \u201cParental Verification.\u201d Choose a phone number for the verification code to be sent to, then select \u201cSend.\u201d<\/p>\n

After you receive it, enter the code on the next screen and select \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

The profile will now be created on your Google TV device, which should only take a couple of minutes. Once that\u2019s finished, the first thing you\u2019ll be asked to do is Select Apps. Click \u201cNext\u201d to proceed.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll be presented with a row of suggested kids apps and a row of apps from your account. Select any apps that you want to have on the profile, and then click \u201cInstall & Continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, Google TV will ask whether you\u2019d like to set up any of the other parental controls. There are several things that you can do here:<\/p>\n
