Aaron Boone said Saturday Luke Voit is expected back \u201chopefully sometime in May. We\u2019ll see how the next weeks unfold.\u201d<\/p>\n

Voit underwent surgery Monday to repair a partially torn meniscus in his left knee that had bothered him throughout spring training.<\/p>\n

According to Boone, the \u201csurgery went as expected\u201d and the first baseman is rehabbing on a stationary bike.<\/p>\n

If the process goes smoothly, Voit will be shut down from baseball activities for another two weeks or so and could return in a \u201c4-6 week scenario,\u201d which would put him in early May.<\/p>\n

Jay Bruce made his second straight start at first base Saturday and had a key two-run single in the Yankees\u2019 5-3 win over the Blue Jays. Mike Tauchman continues to work at the position in case he\u2019s needed there.<\/p>\n

Tauchman said he\u2019s been a full-time outfielder since high school, though he played some first base while in summer ball in college.<\/p>\n

Still, he\u2019s up for the challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was kind of in play before Luke\u2019s injury and become more on the frontburner since,\u2019\u2019 Tauchman said. \u201cI can only play four positions, so I might as well play all four. If that\u2019s something that can lead to a couple more at-bats, it\u2019s something I want to do. So far so good. We\u2019ll see what happ<\/a>ens.\u201d<\/p>\n

The toughest part of the transition is adjusting to the game<\/a> speed at first base instead of the outfield.<\/p>\n
