With every empty storefront or closed restaurant, there\u2019s the question of what will fill the space, because New York City always bounces back. In fact, it\u2019s already h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening, with a new generation of restaurants, lounges, stores and businesses popping up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusiness development in the city is the busiest it has been since last March,\u201d said Dan Clark of the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/edc.nyc\/\">New York City Economic Development Corporation<\/a>. Not only that but many of those who fled New York City when the pandemic hit are flocking back, according to cellphone data tracked by the city.<\/p>\n<p>What is even better is that the economic conditions for opening new businesses are far better than they were in previous downturns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe big difference I have noticed between the great pandemic of 2020 to 2021 and the Great Recession of 2008 to 2010 is that now there is money available to open a business,\u201d said Tom Scarda, CEO of the<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.franchiseacademy.ca\/\"> Franchise Academy<\/a>. \u201cIn some cases, banks are throwing money at leading-edge entrepreneurs who are starting something new.\u201d<br \/>Scarda lost businesses as a result of 9\/11 and the Great Recession but is doing well this time around. \u201cThere are obvious, clear reasons to start a New York business right now, such as lower rent, better real-estate availability and an abundance of potential employees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meet four startups that prove him right:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Serving up success<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Want to meet someone who\u2019s crazy enough to open not one, but two, bar\/restaurants during the pandemic? Venture over to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.orchardroomnyc.com\/\">Orchard Room<\/a> or <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wotwnyc.com\/\">Writing on the Wall<\/a> in the Lower East Side. Both began serving customers last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom an opportunity standpoint it\u2019s a great time to get started,\u201d said Joe Attanasio, one of the partners of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.29monroe.com\/\">29 Monroe<\/a>, the mother company. \u201cWe put every bit of energy into the business,\u201d he said, adding that he and his partners Ryan Levan and Cam Schur were able to negotiate great leases and completely redesign and rebuild the spaces. There\u2019s \u201cnothing on the market like it,\u201d said the Midtown resident. The brand uses a three-minute quiz about hair color and texture, building a customized product for home use, made to order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur patent-pending system and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> allows us to generate more than 10,000 options so every man can look and feel his best,\u201d said Barreto.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eye on the prize<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When veteran entrepreneur Jaclyn Pascocello spent the early days of the pandemic in lockdown, she thought \u201cit wasn\u2019t too bad for me. Given the state of the world, I had time to be reflective and reset,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The Upper West Side resident had spent over four years as the Chief Operating Officer of Spacious, a co-working startup that was sold to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/\">WeWork<\/a>. By August she was ready to get back to work and joined startup <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/heywear.com\/\">Heywear<\/a>, a walk-in optical studio where you can get an exam and made-to-order eyewear in 30 minutes. Training is mostly free and taught in many languages. The city also offers additional free events and courses, including building your own business Web site, choosing the right legal structure for your business, learning QuickBooks, free legal consultations and mentor sessions via<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/Eventbrite.com\"> Eventbrite<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The city has also partnered with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/Coursera.org\">Coursera<\/a> and the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/SUNY.edu\">State University of New York<\/a> to deliver more in-depth and advanced courses for which a simple application is needed, which can be found at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/ZP89PNL\">SurveyMonkey.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/NYSSBDC.org\">New York Small Business Development Center<\/a> offers in-depth, one-on-one business advisory assistance to existing small business owners and emerging entrepreneurs, as well as a range of training programs and market research, all offered at no cost.<\/p>\n<p>Financial help may be available through the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/funding-programs\/loans\/covid-19-relief-options\">US Small Business Administration<\/a> which has a debt relief program covering the cost of principal and interest payments for six months or more.
