\n Brandon Hendricks\u2019 kin cried \u201ctears of joy\u201d over the arrest of a suspect in the Bronx high-school hoop star\u2019s murder, a family friend told The Post on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were very elated,\u201d said Lorraine Outlaw, who was with Hendricks\u2019 shattered mom, Eve.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tears of joy were crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outlaw, who said she was like an aunt to the 17-year-old victim and speaking for Eve because the mother is still so distraught, recalled that \u201cthe detectives called Mom first\u201d with the news<\/a> that sought suspect Najhim Luke, 22, had been nabbed early Monday.<\/p>\n

Outlaw said the family was happ<\/a>y that Luke was caught \u2014 for his own safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t want retaliation,\u201d Outlaw said. \u201cWe don\u2019t want more crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe definitely wanted to make sure the detectives got him first,\u201d she said, referring to Luke, whose photo had been put out by police hunting him in the case Friday.<\/p>\n

She added of the suspect, \u201cThat is still someone\u2019s child. And he\u2019s hurting to do what he did. He\u2019s broken.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke was hauled off in cuffs from the 46th Precinct in The Bronx on Monday afternoon to head to court for arraignment on murder charges.<\/p>\n

Hendricks was found fatally shot in the neck just before midnight after bullets rang out at a barbecue in The Bronx on June 28 \u2014 a week after the star basketball player graduated from James Monroe HS with potential plans to be a court walk-on for St. John\u2019s University.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
