NBC\u2019s \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d chose Pete Davidson to portray embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz \u2014 despite the cast member dating an 18-year-old last year.<\/p>\n

Davidson, 27, app<\/a>eared as Gaetz (R-Fl.) in the show\u2019s cold open, in which the 38-year-old lawmaker was featured as a guest on a Britney Spears-hosted talk show for \u201cthe social<\/a> pariahs of the week.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the appearance, Davidson, as Gaetz, quoted Glenn Quagmire, the hyper-sexualized character from \u201cFamily Guy,\u201d saying \u201cgiggity giggity goo\u201d repeatedly.<\/p>\n

Davidson dated Kaia Gerber, the 19-year-old supermodel and daughter of Cindy Crawford, until February 2020. She was 18 at the time.<\/p>\n

Many on Twitter took note of the relationship after Davidson portrayed the Republican lawmaker, who is being investigated for allegedly sleeping with a 17-year-old girl.<\/p>\n

\u201cPete Davidson as Matt Gaetz is a little too on the nose,\u201d wrote one Twitter user.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Florida lawmaker has found himself embroiled in a considerable amount of controversy over the past week.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that the congressman was the subject of an investigation into whether he slept with a 17-year-old girl.<\/p>\n

The investigation, the Times reported, stemmed from a probe into Joel Greenberg, a Gaetz ally charged last summer with sex trafficking \u2014 among other things.<\/p>\n

Gaetz vehemently denied the allegations, instead alleging on Fox News<\/a>\u2019 \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d later that evening that his family had fallen victim to a $25 million extortion plot at the hands of a former Justice Department official.<\/p>\n

That official, David McGee, a former federal prosecutor in Florida who is now working at the law firm Beggs & Lane, denies the extortion claims.<\/p>\n

Gaetz also claimed the existence of the DOJ probe\u00a0was leaked to the media\u00a0in an effort to thwart the FBI investigation into the alleged extortion plot.<\/p>\n

The GOP congressman, the son of Don Gaetz, a prominent former Florida politician, then told a stunned Carlson that his father had begun wearing a wire to assist the FBI in that alleged extortion probe.<\/p>\n

The senior Gaetz, 73, confirmed his son\u2019s account about the wire to Politico in an interview Wednesday, saying he wore it during a meeting with McGee in early March.<\/p>\n

The former Florida state Senate president went on to say he voiced reservations to authorities about his participation, noting that the operation would require him to be recorded making false statements.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said to the FBI, \u2018I\u2019m willing to wear a wire and be cooperative,\u2019 but I was asked to say things that are not true to draw out an admission,\u201d the retired Florida lawmaker told the outlet, not specifying the nature of those \u201cthings.\u201d<\/p>\n

As controversy \u2014 and confusion \u2014 about the bombshell accusations mounted, the younger Gaetz was hit with another allegation Thursday.<\/p>\n

Multiple sources told CNN that the embattled congressman showed pictures of naked women he claimed to have had sex with to fellow lawmakers, bragging about his conquests.<\/p>\n

While on the House floor, Gaetz allegedly displayed the images of women from his phone and talked about having sex with them.<\/p>\n

One video showed a nude woman with a hula hoop, one source told the network.<\/p>\n

The allegation from CNN does not appear to be in any way related to the DOJ probe.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
