Hunter Biden convinced his father in 2017 to give public app<\/a>roval to his relationship with his brother Beau\u2019s widow, saying it would be best for the grandchildren.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Dad,\u2019 I told him, \u2018if people find out, but they think you\u2019re not approving of this, it makes it seem wrong,\u2019 \u201d Hunter Biden wrote in his book, \u201cBeautiful Things,\u201d about his relationship with Hallie Biden, according to Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the time, Joe Biden had recently left the White House after serving two terms as vice president for Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

Hunter \u2014 who was still married to his estranged wife Kathleen at the time \u2014 said he and Hallie were \u201cincredibly lucky\u201d that their family supported the unusual liaison after Beau died of cancer in May 2015.<\/p>\n

Hunter told his father that his grandchildren would suffer if the former vice president didn\u2019t make a positive statement about the affair.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018The kids have to know there\u2019s nothing wrong with this, and the one person who can tell them that is you,’\u201d Hunter pleaded.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Biden agreed to put out a statement: \u201cWe are all lucky that Hunter and Hallie found each other as they were putting their lives together again after such sadness. They have mine and Jill\u2019s full and complete support and we are happy for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hunter and Hallie later split, and Hunter wrote: \u201cI was madly trying to hold on to a slice of my brother, and I think Hallie was doing the same.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
