PHILADELPHIA \u2014 Steve Cohen aims high \u2013 reasonably high, though \u2013 with his first Mets team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to predict a World Series<\/a> out of the gate,\u201d the Mets\u2019 new owner said Monday in a Zoom news<\/a> conference, hours before his club finally kicked off its 2021 season by taking on the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. \u201cWhat I do think is we\u2019re going to be really competitive, and I do believe we\u2019re going to make the playoffs. And once you get into the playoffs anything can happ<\/a>en, right?\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pretty optimistic. The team looks good to me and I think the fans are really going to enjoy this team.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Mets announced a 10-year, $341-million agreement with recently acquired shortstop Francisco Lindor, on which they came to terms last week.<\/p>\n
