“#M.I.A. Announces NFT Art Exhibit<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

M.I.A. is auctioning off a piece of digital art as a non-fungible token (NFT). The still image is titled \u201cGIFTY 1\u201d and it\u2019s part of a larger art series<\/a> called \u201cNFT GARAGE DANCE.\u201d \u201cGIFTY 1,\u201d which a press release describes as a still image from a GIF collection \u201cbookending her 25-year tenure as a digital artist,\u201d will be available to purchase through Foundation<\/a> for a period of 24 hours beginning Thursday, April 8 at 4 p.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n

The release of \u201cGIFTY 1\u201d will be followed by another NFT drop called \u201cKALA COYN,\u201d which was created in 1996.<\/p>\n

In a statement, M.I.A. wrote, \u201cKALA COYN and the GARAGE DANCE series is a living, breathing, psycho-spectral canvas that crystalizes this moment in time for me. Visually, it\u2019s a mind f*ck and embodies everything I\u2019ve loved about the digital art arena. It\u2019s only now that the app<\/a>ropriate gallery for my work finally exists.\u201d<\/p>\n
