Social media<\/a> superstar Addison Rae is breathlessly billed as a totally new type of celebrity for the Instagram Age.<\/p>\n

But in some ways, it seems, she\u2019s using the same old tricks as her ancient ancestors. <\/p>\n

Rae, 20, has been in New\u00a0York lately, and while she\u2019s certainly been producing plenty of her own #content for her social media feeds, Page Six is told that \u2014 in a move straight from the introductory course at the Kardashian Institute of Advanced Fame Graspery \u2014 her team has also been tipping off the plain old paparazzi about her whereabouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And it seems to be working. While we\u2019re told that she\u2019s been staying at a relatively off-the-beaten-track hotel \u2014 as in, not one the pap hangouts like the Mercer on the Greenwich \u2014 she\u2019s nonetheless been snapp<\/a>ed all over town.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re told Rae seems particularly interested in making sure her style has been well documented by the press.<\/p>\n

Rae\u2019s prehistoric forebears \u2014 who had mastered the use of crude stone tools and BlackBerrys \u2014 were well known for leveraging the then-booming pap industry by summoning their favorite photogs to Fred Segal at the drop of a Von Dutch cap.<\/p>\n

Rae\u2019s famously a pal of the Kardashian clan, so perhaps she\u2019s been getting tips.<\/p>\n
