Amid mixed reception for the latest crop of \u201cJeopardy!\u201d guest hosts, Twitter<\/a> is campaigning for one beloved celeb to succeed Alex Trebek as full-time MC \u2014 former \u201cReading Rainbow\u201d host LeVar Burton. <\/p>\n

\u201cLeaving this here in the event that the powers that be are listening,\u201d Burton, 64, tweeted<\/a> Monday alongside a petition<\/a> started by a fan of the beloved \u201cStar Trek\u201d actor. The document boasted over 130,000 signatures as of Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

The petition comes amid a feverish push on Twitter for the wholesome television icon to host the game<\/a>show.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy is @levarburton<\/a> still not the @Jeopardy<\/a> host?\u201d tweeted one enamored superfan<\/a> of the Grammy winner. <\/p>\n

Another wrote<\/a>, \u201cIf you don\u2019t let LeVar Burton guest host, I will\u2026 Set myself on fire! But seriously. This shouldn\u2019t even be a question.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLevar Burton for everything,\u201d gushed one<\/a> LeVar lover. <\/p>\n

Becoming \u201cJeopardy!\u201d host would no doubt prove a major feather in the cap for Burton, who is best-known for his 23-year stint hosting children\u2019s program \u201cReading Rainbow.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Emmy-winning actor and director also memorably played Lt. Commander\u00a0Geordi La Forge\u00a0in\u00a0\u201cStar Trek: The Next Generation,\u201d and\u00a0Kunta Kinte\u00a0in the\u00a0groundbreaking ABC\u00a0miniseries<\/a>\u00a0\u201cRoots\u201d\u00a0(1977).<\/p>\n

He\u2019s one of a grab-bag of celebrities nominated to fill the shoes of Alex Trebek, after the long-time \u201cJeopardy!\u201d host tragically passed away after a brave public battle against pancreatic cancer last year.<\/p>\n

Notable guest MCs have included everyone from Greenbay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to television journalist Katie Couric and of course, Ken Jennings, the show\u2019s winningest contestant. <\/p>\n
