“#Brian Tee & Steven Weber Tease More Conflict Ahead in the ED<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Bringing in his old mentor should have made ED Chief Dr. Ethan Choi\u2019s (Brian Tee<\/a>) life easier on Chicago Med<\/em><\/a>. Instead, Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber<\/a>) has done the complete opposite in just two episodes (by sharing his thoughts on patients as well as staff relationships) and he\u2019s not done yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll we\u2019re going to do is butt heads,\u201d Tee shared during a recent NBC press junket. That will extend to the rest of the staff as well, though we haven\u2019t see Dean interact much with anyone besides Ethan.<\/p>\n

\u201cEthan may be trying to clean up after his messes,\u201d the actor continued. After all, it\u2019s up to Ethan, as chief, \u201cto tame each situation as it goes along.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the problems is that Dean \u201chas an ego and a past in which he was very assertive and figured strongly in Ethan\u2019s world,\u201d Weber explained. \u201cNow he comes and hasn\u2019t made the adjustment to his new surroundings. He assumes the surroundings will adjust to him. That\u2019s the root of some of the abrasiveness. His ego is bruised.\u201d<\/p>\n

The result will be Ethan having to \u201cschool his mentor in a sense,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The two served in the Navy together, and we will hear \u201ca lot\u201d about their past, Tee promised. \u201cIt\u2019s really grounding. There\u2019s an incredible understanding in one another. There\u2019s a sense of a relationship that you will come to see and notice in certain episodes that tell who these guys are and how they fit together. It creates the dynamic moving forward. So when things do go off rail and come back together, there\u2019s a sense of understanding that I feel Ethan has with no other character except for Dean.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI also have a feeling that the show \u2014 which is known for really attacking real-life issues, medical issues, health issue \u2014 with the storyline between Ethan and Dean, is going to touch on actual things that people experience in our society,\u201d Weber added. \u201cThey\u2019re taking a little bit of a chance here, they\u2019re going a little deeper.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the actors wouldn\u2019t share too much about what\u2019s next, Weber did tease that \u201cbringing Dean in [is] a trigger\u201d for Ethan, adding, \u201cit breaks the show out in a couple different areas that are unexpected.\u201d<\/p>\n
